Calling on the strength and energies of this group. We have a 9 year old grandson who is facing open heart surgery. He was born with a faulty heart valve, had a procedure done when he was two and has since has been living a life with a "time bomb" as his mother puts it. The specialists were wanting to wait till he was 12 before replacing this valve. His condition has been steadily declining over the last year. They are doing checks on him every couple of weeks now. 2 months ago they were thinking that they may have to do surgery this fall. 2 weeks ago they said they better move surgery up so it may be July - early Aug. Wednesday this week they had to rush him from school to the hospital and the specialists have now decided that it has become urgent. They got the phone call today. His pre op appointment is this Monday and his surgery is now scheduled for the 23rd. This child is 9 years old and does not even weigh 40 pounds. They have been living one day at a time for a long time. He has not been allowed to do much of anything. The last couple of months he hasn't even been allowed to play video games and recently they were told not even to let him watch others playing as he gets too excited. I'm not sure how he was allowed to attend school. He has 3 younger sisters that are all very healthy and VERY active so this has to be hard. They live on the other side of the country from us and we only see them about once a year. It's been almost 2 years now. If you can/will please send prayers, good thoughts, positive vibes, whatever. Mom is very scared.
