OT: Need help with "Dog" theme music.

So........ I want to compile a CD with dog theme music to play once in a while at the shop.

Pat in VA suggested "Who Let the Dogs Out" - all I can think of is "You Ain't Nothin' but a Hound Dog" and "How Much is that Doggie in the Window?" - I'd like to have about 20ish songs.... or, as many as I can get on one CD, or ...... if you come up with a bunch of them, 2 CDs would be even better!

I remember you guys came up with a TON of songs when someone needed some for a quilt theme.

What else is out there? Help?

What about the theme songs from the furry movies? Lassie, Old Yeller, Lady and the Tramp . . . and some number of Dalmations - was it 101? Polly

Laurie, I just listened to the samples of those songs, and they're a hoot!

Patti, I think this album would be perfect for your new business. :)

"Old Blue" (folk, best known as done by the Byrds) "I'm Looking Over My Dead Dog Rover"

Or go to supersearch.mudcat.org and enter "dog" in the search box. You get a lot of hits and you'd have to look carefully to see where the dog appears in the song (I don't remember a dog in "Tam Lin").

Be careful with the music, Patti. Some stores' music is so annoying that I really dread being in many of them. Last year at Christmas shopping , DD offered $5 to the clerk helping her if she would turn the music off or down. The clerk would have been relieved too but she said the music system was in a locked room. The woman singing on the PA was in terrible pain apparently and it would have been merciful to put her out of her misery. Polly

Thank you Laurie...... I went to the website and had a look. When I get a couple of spare minutes, I'll listen to the CD and see what it sounds like. Thanks so much!

Now I have "I Wanna Be Your Dog" by Iggy Pop running through my head.

I'll never be able to think of another one when I have an earworm.

How about "Love Me, Love My Dog"? No idea who it's by, but would seem appropriate for your business!

--cd has songs about dogs and fordogs(g). The titles are listed Jane Siberry's Everything Reminds Me Of My Dog

Nick Drake - Black Eyed Dog

Dan Bern - Opposable Thumb (about his little dog Gidgit developing one, quite funny)

"Dogs" from Pink Floyd's "Animals" has actual dog sounds.

"Atomic Dog" by George Clinton and Parliament / PFunk. It ruminates on why dogs must be like that -- why they must chase the cat.

The Associates - Even Dogs In The Wild Bauhaus - Hair Of The Dog The Cure - Shake Dog Shake Christian Death - Dogs David Bowie - Diamond Dogs Elastica - Mad Dog Hank Williams Sr. - Move It On Over Pulp - Dogs Are Everywhere Relaxed Muscle - Year of the Dog Rufus Thomas - Walking The Dog Skinny Puppy - K-9
