OT: Pig is not as missing as she might appear.....

I've actually been reading when I could, off and on.

No quilting done this year, except a few baby quilts for....

....the new grandbaby!

Miss Kara Selene now has a baby sister, Hayley Marie....or as Kara says, she has a Haylien Sister. (this is progress from the beginning, when she was an Alien Sister :)

I guess you can also catch up on me some there. I've passed the first anniversary of my own house, now, about three weeks ago. I've looked over the last year---moving, divorce, school, new job---and decided I did okay for myself in Year One. Year One was about survival and new beginnings.

Now we're into Year Two. Year Two is going to be about growth and new directions and truly starting over.

More to the point, regardless of decades of having it drilled into my head that it's Not Nice and Not Ever Right, Year Two is going to be All About Me. :)

Time for me to focus on *me*. I'm cleaning up some health issues, starting to drop some weight; working 30 hours a week and taking 12 hours of college online. (This could be related to the absence-of-quilting bit.) I won't quite graduate, as this will be the last semester I can afford to not work full time, and it would take another semester and a half or so, but that's okay.....I'll have everything I need to move up into full time and doing what I'm actually training for.

(And my boss is ready to move me up to that position in a heartbeat.)

One of the things I've learned in the last year is that it's possible to devote your time to people (whether home, volunteer stuff, or job) where they absolutely depend on you while at the same time don't appreciate you at all. And I spent a lot of years doing that.

It's also possible to work for and with people who truly do appreciate your talents....and your personality quirks. And I've got both a job and a church parish where they do. :)

So I love my job (cashier and trainee service consultant, Saturn of Indianapolis), I love my church (St. Gabriel rocks!), and I love challenging my mind (Dean's List!) and figuring out what my house needs and working on it (great room is finished, see

and paint is ready for kitchen). I could stand to have some local slightly crazy quilter friends, but don't have time to join a guild to find them, nor money to lurk at an LQS in search of same. Still, I figure they'll turn up, sooner or later.....

Hope to find some spare moments to piece or quilt as the fall progresses. I'll keep lurking, and feel free to yell my direction via email iffen ya wanna :)

PS: Oh, and I traded in the big green truck for a used Saturn Vue and am relearning, after 30 years, to drive stick! Woohoo!

Well, *hi* Piglet! :D It's great to see you, whether or not you've had time to quilt. ;) Your new grandbaby is adorable -- does she have red hair, as the picture hints? Congratulations on the job and school -- be proud of yourself for finding out what *you* need and want and going for it. :)

Oh Piglet...are you ready to be. . .BOUNCED!!!!

Funny how you and I come back about the same time (been posting here for what, about a week now?).

Congrats on the new grandbaby! Congrats on taking the time for YOU! It may not be proper in the eyes of some, but if you don't take care of you, everything else falls into chaos.

Hey, my Dad drives a Saturn. His second (first one got t-boned and both he and the little old lady (not from Pasadena) that hit him, walked away from the accident that totalled both cars. He was on the highway, she ran a stop sign and he did everything he could to keep from hitting her or her hitting him, but it couldn't be avoided and she t-boned him in the end. The second Saturn is a year older than the first, but otherwise looks just like the first (same model, same color). He delivers trucks around the country, takes the ones that have a hitch and got the Saturn because you don't have to disengage the drive train to tow behind the trucks.

Anyway, glad to know you've found a niche both at work and at church where they appreciate you for you!

Congratulations, Piglet, on the new grandbaby, and on how well you have re-structured your life. When you move into the new position, maybe you can put a little 'quilty or quilter' type trinket on your work station. That could start a conversation that will introduce you to some fun quilters. You go girl. Glad to hear life is good. Take care and let us know how you are doing, even if you can't quilt right now. Heather in West Oz

I've already had to have an Educational Session with one of my co-workers....although it's debatable whether or not he even remotely Got It.

Sent me out to the waiting room to tell one of his customers that her car was ready. Described her to me: "She's the one out there knitting."

Knitting my eye! She was hand piecing a tumbling blocks quilt top! Doing a lovely job, as well......

Piglet!!!! So good to see you again.

I'm not here much anymore either but I read here when I can, thanks to a new server I found that seems to work (most of the time).

Well, I can mention it on the baseball swap list but I'm not sure she'll pop in. Maybe we'll get her ears burning, you think?

Hi Miss Piggy!

I agree! I miss Miz Sairey's wisdom, and her stories of the hairy- leggers, MSM. Thundernasher knee basher (I think I got that right!?), the bordello lamp, and so much more!!! I loved her humor, her gift of story, and her kindnesses.

It's nice to see some of the old names showing up again.

Best wishes on your new grandbaby! Dreamweaver
