As if it's not hard enough!

I'm embroidering the High School Band logo on a bunch of polo shirts for DD. She doesn't have a child in the school this year, but likes to keep her hand in. ;-) She sent me the logo, and I digitized it last year for another bunch of shirts. I did some minor tweaking to the design, and transferred it to the machine. put in a nice new ball point needle, and asked the SM very nicely to thread the needle, please.

Several attempts and a bunch of ^%#@*& later, I decided to wax the thread and thread it manually. Still could not get the thread through the eye. I removed the needle, thinking I would thread it where I could see it a little better, and STILL couldn't get the thread through the eye! I finally dug out my loupe, and guess what? The color code paint for the type of needle had filled the eye!

Replaced the needle, and all is good. One shirt down, 5 to go...

Loading thread data ...

Just now and again even the best has a Friday Afternoon Job! I had a needle once where the flat had been cut at about 30 degrees from where it should have been... No way was that one going to work either!

Well......that won't drive you loopy or anything. LOL Glad you figured it out. Be sure you reward yourself for being smart enough to figure that out. ;)

Thats what I like about my little viking. the ankle is white and you can see the hole in the needle right away. Depending on the light it may or may not be easier to thread. My peeve this week is trying to get the needle out of the package. I have several new batches of Schmetz needles and I'm finding it almost impossible to get the package opened the first time. Yesterday I ended up giving the darn thing to DH and watched him struggle for at least 3 minutes before he was able to open it for me. Anyone else having that problem and what's you solution if you are. Juno

I fear for our society when quality control at needle manufacturers falters....

ITYM "more loopy". ;-}

Mmmm, I did break into the bag of Easter jelly beans I bought for DGD, does that count?

I can usually thread the Singer 401As, my coverstitch machine and all my sergers without any difficulty. I keep beeswax next to every machine, and it's better than a "threader".

The XL5000 has such a bulky area around the needle it's difficult to get my fingers in position to thread the needle. It's nice that the built-in needle threader

*usually* works flawlessly.

"Childproofed"?

I've noticed the same thing with the few Schmetz I have. Why can't they print an arrow or something to indicate which end opens?

Jelly beans rock!! I'm a candy freak. I love Jelly Bellies. Juno

My trouble is, I can't quit at 10... or 15.... or 20...

I bought Starburst jellybeans for DGD, they are her favorite. I prefer Jelly Bellies, but I'll eat (insert generic brand here) in a pinch. I'm nibbling pretzels in order to resist the urge to open another pack of jelly beans. ;-}

It's not a problem. The entire bag, of course. Eat the Candy forget about the fruits and veggies. After all Jelly Beans are usually fruit flavored and 1 bag equals 1 fruit. Juno

I've decided that since you and I make a majority of 2 I'd write to Schmetz. I'll post the answer when I get one, Juno

I like your reasoning! Now, lets see, what can I substitute for okra and bell peppers?

Beverly, who actually LIKES broccoli and Brussels Sprouts.

And they are all done, pressed and folded. I'm invited over to younger DD's for dinner, so I'll deliver the shirts to older DD on the way tonight.

Broccoli and brussels sprouts are good. Okra can be eaten if sliced, then dipped in batter and deep fried. That is good. Bell peppers are good diced and added to a green salad with a good dressing. Raw broccoli and cauliflower can also be added to that salad.

Agreed. DH and I loved steamed Brussels Sprouts, the DDs loathed them.

For variations of "good". ;->

I've heard that people actually batter and deep fry cheese, but I don't "get" it.

I cannot abide the smallest hint of bell pepper in anything. It is probably the ONLY vegetable which I cannot stand. At all. Not even the smell of it in someone else's food.

Or just eaten as a snack without anything. Yum!

I've heard that Scots deep fry Snickers bars that have been dipped in batter. _That_ boggles my mind.

So do I... And beans and cabbages, and peas, and almost all vegetables, including the peppers, but NOT the okra!

Okra is the pits!! Red Bell peppers are good roasted and smothered in balsamic vinegar and extra virgin olive oil salt and pepper with melted mozerella cheese on ciabatta bread. I love brussels sprout, broccoli and cauliflower. Juno
