OT rain!

We woke to the glorious sound of rain this morning in the high desert of so cal. It is a foreign sound. Rain has been rare here. We need it so desperately. Hopefully it is not so hard that hillsides in the recent fire areas are sliding. Rain is such a wonderful sound when it has been so long away. Taria

We have grey skies and I feel like death warmed over ..... the storm is moving in. They are anticipating more rain in the next couple of days here in Arizona than in the last several months combined. The northern part of Arizona is over 8" below normal precipitation amounts for the year, we are about 4" below normal, so we really need the rain too.

Congratulations, Taria! Rain has been just as rare here, and I'd have loved to have waked up to the same thing this morning. We have a little predicted for later or tomorrow, but hope isn't very high.

Wonderful news! May the gentle rains continue - both in CA & southwestern states AND in the Southeastern states!

It sure is. Makes the air smell wonderful too.

May the rain fall slow and steady throughout your day today. Debra in VA See my quilts at

How wonderful! Unfortunately for us here in the Midwest, that same storm system will probably be bringing us a winter storm. Snow alone would not be so bad, but the prediction is also for sleet and freezing rain. That means very bad driving conditions and possibly power lines going down.

I take it back! I take it all back! It's raining! It's pretty cold, compared to what we're used to -- only about 45° right now. But it's raining! :D

We are socked in and getting a good soaking here in the Valley. (Not currently the Valley of the Sun.... ) It was very wet to load the car leaving CostCo just a bit ago... and most of the stuff will wait in the car until the drizzle is a bit less. sigh. But we really need the rain. (Gotta keep telling myself that....... I think I may go put on dry clothes and lay down for a while. After I take some mega dose of Ibuprofen.....)

I ended up with a migraine...took the Axert and it put me to bed for a coupla hours. Just got up...still raining but the headache is gone. No wonder I felt so 'off' this AM. So much for quilting the day away.

I hear you, Taria! And we are enjoying rain in Tucson, too. The weatherman is predicting more for the weekend. Lovely!

But I hope my roof doesn't leak this time..........LOL

Taria,

It was the most wonderful sound!! Rained all day here. I was out with my mother all day and come home with sopping wet socks, and my pant legs were soaked, but WE HAVE RAIN!!!!

Unfortunately, Santiago Canyon floods at the best of times and with the fires, they have put the area under mandatory evacuations.

I laid down for a bit.... but the kittens were being playful on top of me so not much rest. I know what you mean about feeling "off", I've been going through that the last couple of days. Sigh. But we need the rain..........

I did get some small blocks sewn together enough to now remove the paper from them so I can finish the assembly into the small quilt for the PAQA Challenge....it is due this coming Thurs. evening. Still have to finish some other stuff for that get together.... my last night as "hospitality" chair.

Now to watch TV and do some hand stuff I hope.......

Oh, Taria! How awful about your roof! We went through something similar years ago when we were living in Arizona. Not fun. Picture that plastic-y stuff they "shoot" up onto textured ceilings as sound-proofing falling down in long sheets. Ugh.

Yesterday's rain lasted all day and all evening and even into the early hours of the morning (1:00 or so). Now we have sunny skies again (what else is new?) and very high winds. Ugh. I hate wind. But at least we had rain yesterday! :)

Is it a coincidence that it rained while DH and I were in AZ? I am gald that you all appreciated the rain god side of my personality ;)

Sorry I didn't get to meet up at all, but given the lousy cold I travelled with for the whole trip it is probably just as well. We had hoped to do some astronomy while down in Portal AZ, but grey skies and over an inch of rain over Friday and Saturday put paid to that. I did enjoy Phoenix last week, but was in bed as soon as we had eaten each evening in order to gather up strength for the meetings each day.
