OT: RCTQ Uplift request........

Hey folks, I'm asking for some of that good ol' RCTQ prayers, good wishes and strength. Tuesday I have an interview to see if I can get into a new pain study at the clinic. It's funded by some national Behavioral Health group and parallel studies are going on in different places in the nation.

I don't know the specifics yet, just that I have a shot at maybe gaining some control of the pain I live with 24/7 for more than 5 years now. I get so tired sometimes, just carrying the pain. I even hurt in my sleep most nights.

Well, enough whiny stuff. I know you guys can give me a boost and maybe this study will be the thing I need to gain control of the pain so I can have more energy to fight off the more damaging parts of my lupus.

Thanks, Sunny

Good luck with the interview on Tuesday. I hope you get into the study....... I can't imagine what you go through on a daily basis but I imagine the thought of relief in any form is uplifting.

Gentle, pain-free hugs to you, Sunny. Keep us posted.......

All finger not already seriously knotted are crossed. I broke out a new pack for you, special, like... ;)

As a fellow traveller (though not as badly aflicted as you and others here), I can understand. You get pretty desparate and despondant at times.

Boost on the way. Lupus is WAY worse than fibro.

Prayers and good thoughts on the way! I wish something of the kind would show up in Tucson, I don't have Lupus but have had constant shoulder and arm pain for more than three years. It's getting old, to say the least! And yes, Sunny, I agree it is a heavy burden to carry.

Oh, absolutely! Pain studies can aid so many people, and they would do well to include you! If you hear a thud it's my stumble due to toes being crossed along with various and assorted fingers ;)

Hi Sunny, You will be in my prayers. I know it is hard to deal with constant pain. Have been in that situation myself a few times. Right now I'm coming to terms with having breast cancer. I don't have much physical pain, but the mental kind that is just as exhausting.

Reading this group and thinking about the nice people in it is good therapy for me in so many ways. I don't know any of you personally, but feel very close to you anyway.

Thanks to all for brightening my days. Best of luck Sunny. Linda

BEFORE you SIGN ANYTHING Ask: What will they do if your pain gets WORSE? Do they have a back-up plan? What if the pain gets to where you go to the hospital? Will THEY pay for it?

On the other hand: What if it DOES work? Will you be able to CONTINUE getting the same meds AFTER the study is over? Will YOU have to pay for it or will they until it is *approved* for the general public?

Will it be a double-blind study? Will YOUR Dr be aware of what they are using? Will HE be able to treat you if something goes wrong or is he entirely OUT of the pix??

With the meds you are on now are YOU legally able to sign the paperwork? (I wouldn't be) What other recourses do you have if this does NOT work for you?

Only reason I'm asking: DH was in a study for Asthma Medicine a long time ago. It didn't work and he ended up being rushed to the Dr.

I hope this does work out for you. I know what 24/7/15 is like.
