OT: Snowstorm

We're getting a big storm here in the Midwest. About 8-10 inches so far with more coming. I'm cooking soup and working on the grandkids' Christmas pajamas.

I saw the pretty tv weather lady just going on and on about your storm and hoped your were geared up and bundled. Do you know where the flashlight is in case you lose power? Polly

Yup! :) Winds are picking up now, making for whiteout conditions in open areas. Airports are closed. Interstates are closed. We've stayed in all day, plan to stay put for another day at least. The city is pulling the plows from 8 pm to 2 am. But after it's all over, it usually doesn't take long for the plowing crews to get everything plowed out. I cooked vegetable beef soup today -- good soup weather. The Vikings are supposed to play the NY Giants tomorrow; the Giants are stranded in Kansas City, but hope to be in MN by noon game time. Bet they're all glad that we don't have an outdoor stadium!

We love football. Nothing more fun that a rousing game in a blizzard. An indoor game would be just no fun at all. No fun either if one team was sitting in the airport in Kansas. Reckon they could do a video with the TSA? Polly

I heard they Giants didn't get there for yesterday's game.

This is usually the time of the year when we have snow and snowdays too. But instead we have temperatures in the 60's forecast.

Take care.

The game is off for now. The roof on the Metrodome (where it was to be played) collapsed from the weight of the snow. It's an inflatable dome and apparently there was a tear in the roof. Now they're trying to find a place to play. They're considering the University stadium, but they have a lot of snow to shovel first! It's stopped snowing but the temps have dropped and the winds picked up. We're safe and warm inside, where we'll be staying for a while.

Game was scheduled for noon today, then postponed until tomorrow night. Now they're looking for a place to play, because the roof of the Metrodome caved in overnight.

The security cameras inside the Metrodome caught the collapse. Watch it at

We ended up with a warm front moving up the coast which changed all that snow headed east our way to RAIN! At least 3" - BUT, you don't have to shovel rain - just watch for flooding!!. This is Maine, for heavens' sake! 51* here this morning - weather broadcast said single digits down in TN and GA! What's happening this year?????? ME-Judy

Saw your storm on the weather channel. Soup is the best idea for those situations! Going to be very warm here (80*) and sunny this week. Some sprinkles maybe friday. I do not miss the snow at all!!

I do hope the cold doesn't effect the peach crop!
