Yep, Stripey cat has an owwy.
I was riding herd on our ladboy (downstairs), when I heard Stripey give a mighty scream from the staircase. I opened the door and there she was, but she danced out of reach and had to do some bobbing to and fro before she made a mad dash though the door and streaked off to hide in a bookcase corner nook. Kiri came down the stairs behind Stripey just in time to say "grab her" when Stripey streaked past.
Seems that Stripey had gone to bed with kiri and then changed her mind about being upstairs. She made such an annoyance of herself that kiri got up and picked her up and tucked he unde he arm to tote her downstairs. Kiri is one of those people that closes every door and turns off every light even if she's just on a thirty second errand. And on her half-asleep way downstairs she had closed the tip of Stripey's tail in a door which propelled Stripey out of kiri's arms with a huge scream, and left the tip of the tail stuck in the door.
At first we thought it was just fur. Then I picked the bit up and it felt damp. I looked and there was a little pink tube in the middle of the bunch of fur. This sent me streaking back downstairs to pry Stripey out of her corner and get a look at her tail. Sure enough, the tip of her tail had been pulled right off the bone. owowowowowowowow!
We got her calmed down and she sat on my lap and bled on me a little. The bleeding doesn't seem bad at all, It appears that she lost a piece that is a quarter inch or less long. It is not so easy to tell as her fur covers the injury and it is hard to gauge from the recovered tail tip. I certainly didn't want to be pokeing about the injury with the mood Stripey cat was in! One of the very few occassions when I was glad kiri's old vet had conned her into getting her cats declawed. Even so Stripey only meowed pitfully and gave a couple of soft warning bites when we looked at her tail. I'll try to get a better look today.
