OT? Tapestry needles

Apr 16, 2010 1 Replies

I am having trouble with a batch of tapestry needles I recently bought and am using for cross-stitch on 14 count Aida canvas. The small ones are too sharp. I want to buy a package of one size -- small to medium -- tapestry needles. (I think the size I want is #6, but I have no short-term memory for numbers. I'll know it when I see it.) But I don't want to waste my time, money, and frustration tolerance another batch of sharp ones.

Do you have a brand of needles that you trust?

A very special shop nearby in New Orleans has wonderful needles. I have a collection from there that ( I think) will keep me needling just forever. Go see what you might need over at

And a meanwhile solution. You can blunt those too sharp needles by doing something dastardly. I think I gave one a scrub with a coarse emery board. A brick or the sidewalk would probably do the deed. The challenge was threading 1/8" silk ribbon through some lace insertion and I didn't need the point of the needle interfering. Polly
