OT - The Hits Just Keep Coming - Prayers Again

Geez just when I think life is about to level out where and things go smoothly again we get hit with another bad news call. My DSIL (the one married to my brother who just died) called me around noon today to tell me that Dad had taken Mom to the hospital this morning with a possible heart attack. Dad took her to the emergency room around 7 this morning and when I talked him they had just put her in a room. They had done a bunch of tests and are going to keep her overnight for observation and to run more tests but I don't know the results or anything yet. So if you all don't mind, please add my family back to your prayers and pray that everything will be okay with my Mom. Her Dad and brother both died from heart attacks, I was born with a heart defect and my brother and SIL lost a baby with a heart defect. So it seems that heart problems are tending to run in my family. I really appreciate all the support you all have given me and shown during the time of my brother's death. It really means a lot to me. So please accept my thanks ahead of time now and know that I appreciate it. It has been really difficult dealing with his death and this news about Mom just comes at a horrible time. Not that there is ever a good time to get news like that. I just feel so helpless being so far away.

Hugs, Mika

With all that your mom has been dealing with, she may be having anxiety or panic attacks; the symptoms can mimic a heart attack. I am holding you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

So sorry to hear this. let's hope it turns out to be not too serious. But, with the family history, it's always best to be on the safe side. . In message , Mika writes

Thank you ALL so very much for the prayers and support. My family and I really appreciate it. I talked to Mom today and she's feeling much better. All the blood tests came back mostly normal. Her enzyme levels were mostly ok which is an indication that it wasn't a heart attack. She had a catheterization done today to see if there was any blockage or anything like that and it came back normal. So that's good. She had some other stuff done too but the doctor hadn't been in to give her the results. So at this point we don't know what the problem is. Her heart rate has been abnormally low, in the 40's, and her blood pressure has been pretty low too, both under 100 so the docs were talking about the possibility of a pacemaker. They gave her nitro and an aspirin in the ER yesterday and she had an allergic reaction to one of them that caused her tongue and lips to swell and really bad itching and lumps appeared in her mouth and under her arms. Today they gave her an aspirin and she had a similar reaction so at least we know what caused it now. I will talk to her again tomorrow and hopefully she will know something more.

Hugs to all. Mika
