Tape/Adhesive Runner

What kind/brand do you like or use?

I have always used primarily the Zyron one (orange in color) because you could get refills for it and it sticks well! I also used Tombo ones too because they are refillable., but found they tend to not stick as well with thick or stiffer types of paper. the Zyron did/does. Anyhow the Zyron is getting harder to find, everyone seams to be closing them out.

So on last trip out I bought a package of the Duck brand ones in a special multi-pack at Wally World. I am in the process of making my 6x6 pages for the Barn Visit and wow is all I can say for those cheap little things!! They glide really smooth on the paper without leaving gaps and seem to adhere really well.

i have heard the CM ones were great and worked well but did not like the price of them ad of course many i n here I think use the Thermo or Herma brand (?) ones.

Just had to brag on something cheap I found and see what others use, have tried or think.

I'll have to pick some up. I use the CM ones and really like them. They are costly though and hard to just go and get when you run out. I tried several others including the herma one and I hate it. My most favorite is the xyron X.

The only adhesive runner I've used is the scotch-brand one and I don't know if it's me or the runner but it's TERRIBLE! I find it almost impossible to use because half the time the tape doesn't roll smoothly or the glue doesn't stick to the paper but goes into strings... if it didn't cost so much I would have thrown it in the bin long ago.

I dont like the scotch brand runners that Karen had mentioned, for the same reasons! I have used the Herma/Dotto adhesive, but it gums up easily and is a pain to get the refill lined up right. I have used the ThermowebXL tape runner, I get them at Walmart. Sometimes they dont stick real well with the heavier papers, or if you have something matted more than twice. But basically I like those. I also use the Fiskars brand tape squares in the 1000 count box, which I get at Walmart for about $5( I always pick them up when I go there, because they do sell out quick) and those stick pretty well, only downside is peeling off the little blue squares, but its not that bad, as long as you have some fingernails..lol

I love the Duck Easy-stick runners, they are wonderfully smooth going on. The permanent ones, that is. Their removable runners aren't very. I've used them a couple of times and had considerable trouble getting the goop off the paper when I was done. (My best results all around with removable has been with removable doublestick tape. Expensive, but works very well.) I've also had good luck with Darice tape runners, which are refillable, though about the only place I can find the refills is at Wal-Mart- when they're in stock, which isn't often. When I find them, I grab them. (Excuse me a moment. My chocoholic cat has found my chocolate stash. Got to rescue it.) There. Now where was I? Oh yes- another great all around tape runner is the Trio, which works great for just about everything, but is DARNED expensive. I use it for vellum, ribbon, glitter, and similar things where nothing else works. But for quality, value, and just plain ease of use, I'll take the Duck!

I'm partial to the Herma/Dotto adhesive - I never have a problem with the adhesive, except for the one I cracked the case and had issues with. I also use the Fiskers tabs quite a bit. I just bought some of the Duck ones from Wal-Mart. They were on clearance so I thought I would give them a try. Sandy

I was sold on the Tombo last summer thanks to MC, but I can't get refills for it in town. So...last week I zipped over to Wal-Mart and they had no Tombo. A few days later I went over to the tiny crappy LSS in town to see if she by chance carried them and they have closed. So it was back to wally world to get the ones they carried. The brand they have here is Adhesive Tech. It is shaped and designed similar to the Tombo and I think it is a wee bit stronger and a lot cheaper in price! Jacqui

I use my Xyron religiously both the 125 and 500. I got a new glue runner (brand name not sure of) so when sit at the couch or at the doctor's office it travels better.

But I'm also a sucker for my glue stick which i always get the permanent acid ligin free versions. I have no problem with them holding stuff.

For heaver stuff I always use my glue dots in various sizes.

CM all the way baby. That's one thing I think the money is well worth paying for. If you don't use the best your work falls apart on you. I HATE (yes vehemently, with passion) Hermo I've tried it 4 different times and always always have issues with it. Borrowed Tombo like it but doesn't last even half as long as the CM ones. I cut corners where I can but albums and adhesives my first pick is always CM. If it's an emergency situation and I cannot get to my consultant (who's always available) then I'll substitute with something else, but often go back and redo that element with the CM just to be sure it will last forever...

I am thinking about the Scotch ATG 700 adhesive gun. It isn't cheap around $40, but you can get the refills for like $2.00. It is however, big and wouldn't do well for small things. But, for sticking down large things I think it would be great.

One of my jobs at work in making ALL the promo kits. They are made of this heavy cardstock paper with a waxy coating. We use that Scotch tape gun Robert and their tape. It works well and holds, except when it gets HOT, like 90 or more then everything comes open.

Anyhow I think it is worth it and does work, but I have not read or found out where the tape is acid free. Does anyone here know if the scotch tapes made for that gun is safe for scrapping?

I can tell you I have seen the tape and gun used in videos from Scrapbook Answers magazine (they have videos on the disc that comes with it) and I can buy the gun and tape at Paper Zone which is a scrapbooking store.

Does this mean it is safe? Don't know. But, it would appear that some people think it is. But, if it comes apart in warm weather I think I will pass.

Not to dissuede (?) ya Robert, but remember the paper I use it on is sorta waxy covered, slick like video boxes or on that line if you know what I mean. It may be ok on plain paper that does not have a slick surface.

Thanks for the link Lynne. That is nice to k now, just got to se if I can find it anywhere here.

I'm stuck on my mono adhesive. (no pun intended!) I love my mono! Can't stand Hermafix. I'm not sure why, but no matter what I do, the tape always loops. I keep it around as a backup in case I run out of my mono. I prefer the SU "SNAIL" adhesive, but I'll also use the Tombow mono adheasive.

Hermafix tape tabs.

UGHH!! Just like the rest of their stuff they are totally a real pain in the -----. It is the last time I will get any of their stuff, even on sale. I do not know what it is but I have never liked them. I remember couple years ago throwing them ot the door literally, I was so mad at the way they ravelled up and came undone -- GRRR!!

I have got to go get some more of those duck ones and the mono ones too. I like the Tombo mono and have used it for awhile.

Just my two cents on giving them anther try.
