I am not real familiar with the way a toaster oven is used. I would think this machine is bigger and more versatile but not sure. It heats to 450 but is slow to get that high I guess because it is only 120 volts. HTH Allison. Taria

Howdy!

Our 20-yr old standard oven smoked, so I named it Old Smokey; least little bit of something (fumes!) got on the coils & "Old Smokey" would set off the smoke alarm. So 2 yrs ago we decided to replace the old oven, which was tied into the circuit w/ the old microwave oven in the same part of the wall. Went to the appliance store, trying to explain to know-it-all-&-women-don't salesman (SmartAssSalesman).

Me: "I need a microwave/standard oven combination unit; Old Smokey Oven is killing the smoke alarm, the micro has a rod knock."

SAS: Microwave & oven? A microwave IS an oven.

Me: "And I need the combo unit."

SAS: Ma'am, where does the microwave go?

"In the same cabinet, on top of Old Smokey."

... everyone in the store was laughing... I got what I wanted after pointing at pictures in the catalog.

Love the new oven w/ the hidden coils: no smoke.

No convection, either, because I'm not in that big a hurry. This is Texas: I toast enough outside.

Thanks for the link.

The combination looks really useful. There are times when my oven is too full and extra cooking space is just what I need. Just heating to

350 would work for me.

Hoping my microwave will give up the ghost soon so I will have an excuse to go shopping, Allison

I see it has a special potatoes facility. Wonder if it is like mine where you put potatoes to bake on the special metal rack, press the potatoes knob, dial in the weight and low and behold your baked potatoes appear in about 15 minutes with a lovely browned skin. Perhaps not quite as good as a conventional oven, but much much quicker and cheaper and

100% better than the just microwaved ones!

Allison: Think about how a new appliance would be so much more energy efficient than that old MW. You could save on your utility bill every month. SO, go ahead and buy the new one now. Give the old one to a church yard sale or such. PAT in VA/USA
