OT: Who scrapbooks?

I walked into our local craft store today, heading back to drool over the fabric, and the loud speaker asked us to look down and see what number was under our feet. I looked down and it was number 99 and they said "if you have number 99, bring it to the counter." I follow directions relatively well as long as they're simple. So they gave me a packet of scrapbooking stuff.

I have many vices and have added buttons and beads and pretty threads to my compulsions. But those all go on fabric and scrapbook stuff is all paper and I just can't afford another addiction. So, the first two people who pm me will get these packets of little things to put in your scrapbook pages.

No interest either, Sunny, but doesn't it feel good to win something once in a while?

I was wondering if I felt good enough to go to work one day when they called and told me I won tickets to Round 1 Game 1 for the Bruins. I work there - don't even remember entering! But you know, I didn't feel good enough to work, but I went to the game - so strange to sit and watch a game! Then they have my name up on the Jumbotron, and in the newsletter! Good thing I didn't cancel work due to illness!!

I know what you mean, Sunny. The scrapbooking stuff is so tempting, but I am SO not going to go down that slippery slope. (Polymer clay is tempting, too. I just stay out of that aisle.)

Quite frankly, I think that quiltmaking is somewhat more, well, credible -- that is not exactly the right word -- but it has significant historical background (of which I am very aware, having just given a program on "quilting myths"). Scrapping is more of a contemporary thing. (I know that people have kept scrapbooks for years -- in fact, there is a really interesting newish book that is a study of historical Am. scrapbooks.) .....Too much philosophy before breakfast, sorry.

I happen to love scrapbooking! I basically restrict myself to approx

4 weeks a year, 1 week at a time, but boy, do I go to town during those weeks!

All of my pictures are in shoe boxes where they belong.

That said, I went through a period of making greeting cards. People loved getting them and I enjoyed making them.

Unfortunately, one of my old phobias reared it's ugly head.

I couldn't bear to cut up my prettiest paper.

I have about a thousand sheets of beautiful paper.

In a few years your paper will be properly aged and you can sell it as "antique"' paper......

I was with dd in COstco one day and she saw the scrapbook storage caddy they sell. SHe thanked me for not being a scrapbooker.

DH keeps saying while houses are dirt cheap here we should buy a spare for studios and storage. Then I would have enough room to be a scrapbooker I guess. LOL

There sure are some people doing some wonderful scrap books these days. It is a pretty neat hobby for a lot of folks. Your plan sounds pretty reasonable MM. TAria

Once in a while I visit a craft shop that is 'not' one of my pastimes. Very often there will be a small accessory, or storage item or such that will work for quilting. Last week I went to a nice scrapbooking place. There were a few templates that would work nicely for a home made label, and some that would work nicely for a hand quilting pattern. I passed those. I found some lovely packets of assorted buttons, each packet being one color. I bought a pack of lime green buttons. Very cool. PAT in VA/USA
