Heading North

DH and I are heading out tomorrow morning, for our return trip to Kingston ON. We have planned stops in Charleston SC and Williamsburg VA, so won't be home until April 15. Our van is loaded as usual, but with more quilts this year, as I was busy finishing some entries for the quilt show in May. I'm sure there will be tons of messages when I arrive home, so I'll probably have to delete them all and start fresh :-( Don't have too much fun without me.....

So maybe the snow will be all gone in Kingston by then :)

Allison(who can't believe how much white stuff we still have left here in Montreal - my back yard is buried!)

Have a pleasant and safe trip! Enjoy Williamsburg for me. Have you ever been there? (Sorry, if I should know that.) My DH and I love it there and visit often.

Hi Susan! You will be within 20 minutes of my house when you are in Virginia! If you want LQS info, or restaurant info, or want to deliver chocolate to my palace, please email me off line and I will give you my phone number. In any case, have a lovely trip. BTW: it is ~chilly~ here!

We arrived home safe and sound. Had a great visit in Charleston, but not long enough. Much more fun without kids! DH and I wandered around the Battery area, looking at the homes and admiring their wonderful courtyard gardens! Toured Boone plantation the next morning and headed out. Definately deserves another longer visit. No quilt shop shopping - our van was almost sitting on the axles as it was! We stayed near Smithfield NC, then headed off to Norfolk VA, where we took the bus tour of the naval station. DH had visited there when we were stationed in Panama City FL, but he got the VIP tour, complete with a visit on an aircraft carrier! We had visited Williamsburg before, but only spent an afternoon. This time we stayed at the Governer's Inn and had length of stay passes. Spent the first afternoon and evening there, including a fantastic dinner at the Kings Arms tavern. Were back visiting by 9am the next morning, taking in as much as possible. By 5, I was tired, so we headed out for dinner then a quiet evening. DH was getting anxious to head home, so we packed up and drove all the way home, a day early. Arrived to find DS2 feeling terrible with a cough and sore throat. Haven't done much unpacking today - taking care of DS2 and tidying up what is here before adding to the confusion. Our weather for the whole trip was wonderful, and when we arrived home, the only snow is in the leftover piles from the snowplow. My tulips and irises are starting to poke through and the crocuses are blooming in the backyard! Sorry we didn't stop and visit - maybe next year.
