OT Wizard of Oz costumes

Here's a link to photos of the costumes I designed and made. I also made various bits and pieces of other costumes, but these are my very own projects. (The play we used follows the book more closely than the movie.) I didn't get pics of the black cat costumes... sorry. The first run of the play is Thursday!

Waaaaay to go, Leslie. Great job. Do you get to 'be' in this production or do you just lurk backstage with 100 safety pins and good vodka? Polly

You did a marvelous job. Is this a high school drama production? They are *lucky* to have you!

No, not high school. I live in a very small town now (pop. is just under

2,000) and they have an amateur theater group. I volunteered to 'help'. VBG I don't have any other function- no acting or anything. Just a volunteer who got assigned to Costumes.

Outstanding job, Leslie. Those are just great costumes - the theatre group is lucky to have you as a volunteer!

And they sure knew where to 'put' you. How neat is that. So, will this be a yearly undertaking for you? Love the lion's fur. It sure came out nicely.

Thanks! They average six plays per year. It's quite impressive for such a small town! I'll help again- but only with more help and more time. It was stressful to have such a great deal of responsibility on a short time frame and I'd never done anything quite like this before. Finding a pattern and then adapting it to so many sizes and different costumes on a miniscule budget was a challenge. After all- I am a quilter not a clothing-maker! ;-)

Thanks, Kate. But it's sure not on the grand scale of your clothing projects! LOL These only had to look decent from the audience. There's unfinished raw edges and all kinds of shortcuts to just 'gitterdun'.

Shoot, Gen! You're kicking me out of the 'Quilters' category??? WAH!

Leslie - those costumes are awesome....made even moreso by the fact that you state you aren't a clothing maker. I still say I do clothing and quilt as a hobby, but I'm not a quilter....ah well. Personally, I'm in awe of the lion and the tin man...I don't know that I would have ever been able to figure out how to make them properly...and the different fluffy fabric for the lion???? I get a headache just imagining it!!

Awesome job lady!!

Larisa, behind on the costumes for this year's family picture (Alice in Wonderland...not sure why, but that's what came up).

What a fantastic job you did! The theater group is so lucky to have your talent in making costumes that look so good. I'm sure it will add greatly to the production. Donna
