OT your time zone

Now this one's fun! My friend the weatherman just sent me this place. Little did he know that we are friends from just all over the world. Ever wonder whether a rctq buddy is off to bed or isn't quite awake yet? Please go look this one over

We also use this to determine what time it is where my Marine step son is - was in Kuwait last week. I installed a world clock on my hubby's PC desktop so he could keep track. Great link regardless of purpose, though. Thanks, Polly.

Thanks Polly, DH just left this morning for Germany! Timing was perfect. Now when he says he'll call at a specific time, I'll be home and ready for the call. He's attending a family reunion in Espenschied, a very small village with his brother. They have talked about going for many years and decided this was the year.

Its a great place to check out the 7-day weather forecast also for would-be travellers! I have a friend coming to Canada in Sept for a

10day vacation and she keeps asking me what sort of clothes to pack - I sent her the clock link and told her the weather forecasts are kept up to date so that would give her a better idea of wardrobe useful for Toronto and Niagara Falls. jennellh (change the mail to news)

I thought it was even an interesting education in geography. Naturally, schooling out here in the Swamp is rather limited but I had no idea how many time zones Australia had, that Ireland was not in the UK, that Scotland is, and how many countries there are that I'd never heard of. Polly

Well ... part of the island of Ireland is in the UK! (The northern part minus the north west corner.) It's complicated, with a 'history'. . In message , Polly Esther writes

Australia more time zones than what's currently listed. It all depends on which states do or don't have daylight savings and when daylight savings starts in which state. It can get quite confusing in March and October.

Thanks Polly,

Very cool site. My DH travels a lot so now I have a way to stay in sync with him.

Suzie, You bet! We have a 5th wheel that we use as guest headquarters. Your own private bedroom, bath, etc!

Come on over - would love to see you and Paul again!

Thanks for this site Polly. I love it. It's fascinating to find out things about the rest of the world, but also about my own home. For instance, they list the nearest 'city' to Perth as Uluru (Ayers Rock) in the middle of Australia. That's 1656km/1029 miles away, and it's the nearest! Well, we are renowned for being the most isolated capital city in the world, after all.

Speaking of time zones though, some people here in Australia seem to be ignorant of the time differences. DH had a work call from Brisbane the other morning. When he told her that he was still getting ready for work as it was

7:15 am, she actually said that she thought Perth and Brisbane were on the same time zone. There are several thousand kilometres and two hours difference between the two! Oh well, hopefully she'll remember now...
