I have a quilt I will be completing within the next couple months and want to use prairie points for the border. I have looked at directions on line and it seems fairly easy. Any tips or things I should be aware of?

probly wont have time to respond after this, working soon again. argh. which way you gonna do them? one way they will slot inside one another. the other way they dont. folding one in half side to side. the other folds corner to corner, these slot alongside one another. these can also be made in multiple units....pix on quiltmaker iirc. could also do them in 2 colours by sewing strips of each colour together, then fold one up, one down, slot into each other. i'll try to find the link, hang on a sec....

just had another thot....yea i'm full of thots, lol. with those overlapped ones... could sew two rectangles into a sq first, then fold so each side of the PP was a diff colour. i think that would work, just an off the top of my noggin thot again. cheers, jeanne

I have prairie points all around the quilt on my bed. My husband doesn't like them on the top edge. He says that they poke him in the face. LOL so you may wish to have a straight binding on the top edge. Just my own expierience.

Thank you Jean. I was thinking about doing that. Both my DH and I like to pull our blankets up to our chins and don't think I'd like them poking me either.
You could always put that top row 'facing' the other way. Make them just the same, but lay them pointed corner downwards. You would have to put a binding on that edge - just include the bases of the prairie points in the binding when you first sew it on. (That would be after the quilting, so they wouldn't get caught). I did one miniature with the prairie points only pointing into the quilt. It looks very sweet. . In message , Boca Jan writes
