Progress at last!

that sounds divine, Kate. i will indeed cross my fingers but i'm guessing you'll not need any of that. you make gorgeous quilts, on or off that horse. take it easy on your back, eh. look'n forward to the pix. j.

"Kate in MI" wrote... I can't believe it! This wedding quilt may finally come together. It will be probably be one of those quilts that will be best viewed on a galloping horse at 100 yards... but overall I think I will be happy with it.

It is a two block quilt... 7 1/2" blocks (I should have done 12" blocks if I were smart). Both are 9 patch variations.

Block 1 is: HST in the 4 corners, solid in the center and peaky/spike on the 4 midpoints on the outside edges. Block 2 is: Solid in the 4 corners, square in square in the center and peaky/spike on the 4 midpoints on the outside edges.

If you are crazy enough to count (or care... ;-) that means 21 pieces to each block with a total of 99 blocks! (9 x 11 grid)

I'll be adding 2 borders... a thin chocolate brown one... then a wider ivory one. The pattern kind of makes rings... which I like for wedding quilts. (The bride's brother & sister both got DWR's -- but I just couldn't do another one.)

It is in ivory/soft sage/ and chocolate brown. The brides wedding color is the soft sage.

I hope to have a picture up by Sunday... cuz Monday I hope to have in in the mail to my longarm quilter!

Keep your fingers crossed that all will go well as I finish putting it together.

Thanks... you're right. After no sewing for more than 3 months... it feels so good to be back sewing. But my arm/neck/shoulder does talk to me if I don't take regular breaks. I am certainly more watchful of the clock now -- and I try to take a break at least every 45 minutes to an hour. Stretch those muscles a bit.

I actually saw the pain doc yesterday afternoon -- and he was very pleased to hear that I've had no need for pain meds now for 2 weeks! Sure don't want to go back there... but if i do -- he says we can do that same treatment right away and avoid the really severe pain.

I just hope it stays long gone...
