Quilt Rack

After I finished the most recent quilt and sewing room accessories, I felt drained. It was a full on attempt and I felt I needed a break from quilting. But not a total break. So it was down to the basement workshop and what you see at the link listed below as Quilt Rack is the result. 4' wide by 3' tall. Made of cherry and fashioned in the style of an 1840's quilt rack in one of my Shaker pattern books. All Traditional mortise and tenon joinery with a clear varnish finish. I now need to make another quilt to use on it. Does it never end?

John, I just don't know anything about it but there's something about finishes on wood that are bad news for quilts. Maybe there's something simple such as putting a few layers of muslin or acid-free tissue paper between your quilt and the rack. Eventually, we will make you smarter and more confused - but about very important things. Polly

John, I saw it coming, but now I'm sorry to say that you are hopelessly caught up in an addiction that you will never be able to get yourself away from, for the rest of your life.lol. You can try and find any kind of rehab facilities, nobody and nothing on this earth will be able to help you, you are doomed to quilt for eternity, yes there are quilt shops in heaven, lol. There is one good thing, you found us, we will always be here for you, we are the best enablers in the quilting world. lol. Your quilting and woodworking are excellent, and welcome to the group, you fit right in. By the way I'm french speaking. Dixie in cold and snowy NB.

When I give to you something I made with my hands I share my heart.

So, how many beds at your house? And extended family members with beds of their own? And empty walls? No, John, it never ends, because if you get tired of quilting for yourself and family, there are countless charities that would be tickled to take your produce. And you shouldn't have shown us that quilt rack; now we all want one! Roberta in D

You could always free-motion an all-over design. Have a look at the McTavishing book and DVD for ideas. Roberta in D

You could contact a local quilting group at local churches and ask if they will quilt a top for you, how long it will take (they often have a list and you will have to get in line), and how large the fee will be. It will be beautiful work!
