Re: Another country heard from (was: Petition to stop SIMPLY Quil...

HGTV.uk has a ring to it, Pat! Another backdoor lobby area is to use the extra scope provided by LQS and their customers - ask your local fabric shop owners if they are also willing to participate in bulking up the support for the petition and TV quilt shows . I did this several years ago when HGTV first began in Canada and the network removed Simply Quilts from the line-up for the transition TV season - only then it was the -800- phone number that was used. I have written some impressive pleas! Approached both satellite and terrestrial TV companies. I did get relatively hopeful information from a Canadian company - not for Simply Quilts, but for their own production - but have heard nothing since. However, it is an idea to go at it from the other end and try to persuade HGTV to mount a campaign to sell it to someone over here? I'll try it. Having seen tapes of Simply Quilts, it would be an enormous success over here I'm sure. It used to be difficult with quality - numbers of lines etc. But now that its not a problem, the picture quality should be acceptable. So, thanks very much for the address Kevin, and I will get on to it right away. In article , KCK writes I think that if enough quilters contacted "the powers that be" about their desire to have this TV show available, that perhaps they might listen. Hey, it couldn't hurt:

I told them all about the thousands of members of our Quilters' Guild; the large magazine subscriptions; the thousands attending all our national quilt shows; all the local groups; and so on and so on ... Even those whom I knew only to import programmes, not to make them, agreed it was a good idea; but that they were not considering anything like that at the moment. Those trite words. I even offered to escort a representative to one of the Shows. Had I had the sniff of encouragement, I would have tried contacting one of the magazines to have a go. It was just about then that I heard about the proposed Canadian show. So I contacted the producers and told them all the same story - how welcome it would be over here. Now that's all gone quiet too. But I will certainly take my crusade to HGTV themselves. I agree HGTV.UK sounds good. I'll mention that to them! . In article , Jennifer Hepworth writes
