RE Polly. What was I thinking of?

I love it. I happened to like the pink in there because those were the colors of my daughters dance studio that we have had for the past 15 years.

Very nice!!

Thought I would brave showing this Quilt. I went to a Jelly Roll sewing day at our club. No tutor, but we all had Jelly Rolls. now just a top to add to many others,I don't know why I put in the pink, and even why I added black! It is so unpleasant that it will never be quilted. I am also not going to unpick it! What was I thinking! lol. It is the first one in my album. It won't be there for long.!!

I sort of see what you mean BUT if the black triangles get quilted with a heavier weight variegated thread with pink and blue I think it will help to pull it all together.

Our local quilt shop owner who runs all the classes, says,"You should always add one color or print that you would not ordinarily use to each quilt". I am not so sure I agree with that theory. But you could make it up into a "give away to charity" quilt, which is what I call those quilts that I don't really like or l just am tired of seeing hanging around the house. John

You were thinking it would look good! Sometimes our best intentions go awry, though, don't they? Actually, I don't think it's all that bad. I don't mind the black at all, and while the pink is a little much for my tastes, I'll bet someone would love it. Have you thought about going ahead and quilting it and donating it to charity?

Uh-oh. Maybe showing our UFOs for inspiration was not such a good idea. We could wind up simply insulting each other. As for the black and blue quilt - could you give it to a hockey player? I've never been to a game but don't they beat and bang up on each other a whole lot? Polly

Actually, if you put black sashing and a black border, it would look like the "blue"triangles float. then quilt it with varigated thread. Great for a guy. amy in CNY

Song "Sunrise, Sunset" comes to mind. Border it with the black and it's finished. It reminds me of the Amish type quilts.

Finished is good. Butterfly

Estelle, thanks for showing us your quilt. I love how everyone sees something different when they look at it. Even though you may not care for it now, I can see all sorts of possibilities after reading the various responses - I hope you decide to finish it!

Well, I think it's quite lovely. IMNSHO all it needs is a largish pruple print border with all those other colors in the print, a small black border, another pieced border with all of the fabrics and then black binding. I would be more than happy to finish the quilt in this manner so send it on to me and I will do so :-). I could give it a wonderful home -- honest!!! CiaoMeow >^;;^<

Estelle, I can see possibilities there. It may not be to your liking but someone, somewhere will probably fall madly in love with it. If you have enough fabric I would at least add one border, black on the "blue" sides and either blue or pink on the black sides. A second border of random length pieces of the jelly rolls would also work. Or a "piano keys" border of the jelly roll stuff. Or a border that has black, pink and blue in it. Quilt with a light variegated thread, to tone down the black, and it could be stunning.

I like it Estelle! No ifs, ands, or buts! Black and bright colors always pop, which I find appealing. And I think Tia Mary's ideas for finishing it are spot on!
