Sally, that's a really beautiful quilt. I love that setting - and the fabrics you have chosen to go with the animal pictures are surprising (to me!) but it all fits together wonderfully well. Your photos of Kiwi and Hodge are gorgeous. You always have such 'right' captions. Were you ever a newspaper cartoon editor? If not, you should have been >gg< Thanks for sharing. . Sally, I am also partial to this line of fabric (I have all of it - a lot!) - naturally, it all began with the owls and then it grew into the badgers and foxes and then it grew some more when I saw the waterside group. I have used some of the images in a hug quilt that went back to Yorkshire for a special cousin of mine who died last Nov

- she had always shown me the countryside from her perspective during my holidays with her. I really don't object to the animals having 'human eyes' at all - the fabric is delightful for showing the UK hedgerow creatures to any age. I approve your quilt! ;)) jennellh

Thanks. Although I used different colours/tones to the suggested ones, I did take on board some of the suggestions, ie where there were red and white blocks together in the original, I used blue and fawn. Normally I would have been much more conventional. The autumnal and the green oak leaves and acorns were in the Makower 'set' to go with the border and little square pictures. Some of the little squares were from a different Makower range (found them at the NEC) and they gave me a wider range of animals. There was a rather fierce wild boar, but I didn't use that!

I have just returned from WI meeting to find Hodge shut in the hall cupboard - I'm sure he's never been in there before. He is very miffed and not speaking to me. An afternoon in the dark with the coats and spare washing machine detergent obviously wasn't his idea of fun. Kiwi pictures are easy to caption - he always has a look of surprised innocence! Hodsge just bumbles along and Mia is just Mia - very much her own cat. She is in love with Hodge, but apart from that does her own thing.

Thank you. The fabric line seems to be decreasing, so wonder if it is being phased out.
