Re: 'Singing the Blues' Applique finished.

Phewww.....

Finished the applique last night (except for the bird's beak and a possible extra leaf if I don't like his legs!).

Started to sandwich him and then thought I ought to take a picture 5 minutes later than I should - hence the one line of basting down the middle. I've decided that I'll hand baste rather than the little plastic tacks because of the plainish white background that might show holes. Its only small so I should survive.

I changed the colour of the heart - more bluey. Its the same batik, just a different part of the fabric and doesn't jump out as much.

I'm going to machine quilt it, so may play a bit on one of my UFOs first. Im just going to echo quilt quite close in and then cross hatch (a bit Baltimorey). The blank bits on the outer border will have some quilted leaves. Then there will be the fun of a bit of..... hand embroidery? beads? who knows!

Looks beautiful, Sally! (What I was able to see anyway -webshots was particularly annoying. Instead of pop-ups, which the pop-up stopper completely blocks, they simply pop in an entire page-size ad!) Roberta in D

Really nice, Sally. I love appliqué, but I don't often do it. How in the world are you going to get a tiny little beak on there?

cheat and fuse it I think, especially as it is open. Then a few really tiny stitches.

It's lovely, Sally! The change in color of the heart is subtle, but it does make an enormous difference in the uniformity of the quilt. :) I'm excited to see how it looks after you've quilted it. :)

I would probably embroider it.... Something that small it would really look good embroidered.
