"Singing the Blues" is finished and is on Page 4 of the Quilting Album in my webshots.
I used the original (?) Guy Mitchell song as the inspiration - that is what I learned to Quickstep to long, long ago!

It's lovely, Sally. Well done - lots of patience there! The beads look great. Thanks for showing us the finished product. They may have taken a while to do, but the veins in the leaves really do make a huge difference. Great. . In message , Sally Swindells writes

Sally, it's *wonderful*! Your use of different blues is inspired -- not a single motif is "lost" because of shades blending together, yet the whole is very unified. Gorgeous! :D

Even Robert Johnson or Eric Clapton would love it. I know I do. Great job and I think all those lovely ladies with the matching gloves, hats, and purses will love it too. ;>)

Thanks Sandy.
I've really enjoyed doing it, and its the first thing I've really designed from scratch. All the fabric was from my little bits box except the white background which was some I'd bought by mistake expecting it to be more off-white, and then thought 'When am I going to use this?'. The frame and binding was from a fq of purple/blue batik from the Remnents Shop. So it is a very economical little bird!

Thank you John.
The hats and gloves have now disappeared - though we have pictures in the Archives of a Meeting where all the ladies had hats! Pity - I like hats!

I used to loooove that song! Went to the page with the lyrics before I went to see your quilt. And since I now watch Dancing With the Stars, I know what the Quickstep is! I knew there was something educational about that show.
Nice quilt. Love the beadwork! Nice kitty! Nice pastel star pillow (#40 of 45).

That's a happy little tune to start a sunny (I hope) day to!
Unfortunately I haven't known 'Singing the Blues' all my life - I was 16 when I first met it!

Thanks. Having been 'volunteered' I just had to put my head down and run at it and pray that it worked!

My quickstep wasn't quite up to that standard, especially as being considered tall in an all girls school I had to be 'man'! No wonder I can't dance now.
Kiwi says thanks too - I am trying to keep him away from things at the moment as he is doing an enormous spring moult, and everything round him is furry.
Only two days to the 100th birthday party. One of Miriam's sisters made
101 so DH has longevity on his side. Miriam only went into a care home last month after a couple of falls. She is very frail but her mind is as sharp as ever.
