Amen! And the same to you, Maureen!

I started the New Year the right way by watching some movies with DH & DD while working on a Christmas gift from DSisIL: a felted pouch. I'm about 3/4 done knitting it. If it's too big for my cellphone (which I think it will be) I think there will be enough yarn for me to knit a smaller one for it. I'll be able to use that until I figure out a cross stitch design. It should be interesting....I've never felted anything before!

Oh please let me know how it turns out! I've never felted anything either but I've been thinking of trying it, especially for a purse. Although there is a cabled purse at Michael's that I just have to make first! lol

Well, I finished the pouch! It was an interesting project not only because I've never felted (actually "fulling", I've discovered!) anything but also because I learned how to make a placket for a zipper and a casing for elastic. It was actually pretty easy, although I shrunk the pouch a little more than I should have. I'll have to shorten the zipper that came with the kit (yet to be sewn into the pouch) but that's no big deal. I discovered with the pouch that you really need to watch the piece more closely as it starts getting close to the size you want it.

In doing a bit of research, I learned that felting is actually done

*before* stitching and fulling is done after.

I still had yarn left over so I also made a case for my new cellphone. I had the thought that if you're using yarn that shrinks (wool), what would happen if I put a design in with a yarn that doesn't? I was thinking it would make the synthetic yarn pop out more but that didn't work out quite as well as I thought it might. It still turned out okay, though. Here is a a link to my webshots album if you're curious:

and the design is the way I write the J in my name. I'll use this case until I come up with a design/pattern for a cs one. :)
