RE: Time for another roll call

Hi, I'm Sandy and live in central Florida. I am mainly a lurker, don't have lots to say but love reading about everyone else. I'm 60 years old and have been widowed for the last six years. We had been married for over 30 years. I have one son ( 42, disabled and lives with me), one step son (43), one granddaughter (7, going on 16) and one QI - a very lovable Boston Terrier. I have been sewing for over 45 years, started quilting about 12 years ago. I also like to do machine embroidery and computing. I spend most of my day on the computer - reading newsgroops, buying and downloading designs for both embroidery and quilting.

From one Sandy to another, welcome! :) Maybe you can come up with something in your signature to distinguish you -- there's Ragmop/Sandy, Sandi in B.C., me -- a couple of others, too, I think.

Hi Sandy. I just found this group. I made my first quilt in the early 1980s. I'm 63, married and have one son and grandson living in another state. I took a few years off from quilting when we built this house and the hobby greenhouses. I'm now ready to get back to quilting. I live out in the country and have no family here so have a lot of time on my hands in the evenings.

I make all kinds and sizes of quilts. But due to space limitations wont be makingthing larger than double bed size. I made a lot of coach or couch or lap quilts. These were very popular here about 20 years ago. Most were sold or given as gifts.

See here:

Here is one laying over another so I could take a pic of it.

Hi, I'm Donna and have lived in Northeast Louisiana for the last 4 years. Moved here from Central Florida. I'm 59 years young and I work part time in the OR of an eye surgery center. I can't wait to retire in about 3 years and move to Pensacola. DH and I have been married for 30 years. I have two sons ( one is 40 lives in Alabama with his DW, have two kids, a boy 16, and a girl 14--the other is 36 and lives in Pensacola, recently divorced and has custody of my youngest DGD who is 4). I have one Step-daughter who lives near Tampa and she has two kiddos--a girl 7 and a boy 5. I started quilting about 10 or 12 years ago. I don't know if I have a particular thing that I like to do--I like traditional quilts and machine embroidery but also will branch out and try most new things. Love to take classes at my LQS!! I still do a little counted cross stitch which used to be my passion before getting bitten by the quilting bug. Oh, I almost forgot--I have one QI, a spoiled-rotten 13 lb. 10 year old poodle, Jingles (we got him at Christmas)

I'm Donna in Bellevue Washington where we've been since DH retired from USAF in '82. He retired again a couple of years ago. Been married for 43 years in March. I've pretty much been a "kept woman" that whole time (he spoils me rotten and I love it). We have two sons each with 2 sons. DGS are 12,10, 6, and 3. I started quilting about 10 years ago. I've given away a lot more quilts than I've kept. I generally make large lap quilts for sofa napping. I didn't sew much when I was younger, my mom did most of that. She started making quilts when she was about 68 years young and I got inspired by her. I enjoy S.E.X. the most but I've run out of space and now must actually use what I have. I have a Bernina 1260, a Janome 6500, and several older machines. Enough already.

A little addendum...I have one QI, tortoiseshell feline with diabetes. DS1 found her near the freeway entrance early in December over 14 years ago. One more day of exposure and she'd be an angel cat. She's afraid of her own shadow and doesn't leave the safety of under the bed except at night or to eat or use her litter box. Now I'm definitely finished. Donna in Bellevue

I'm Marie in middle TN, originally from NYC. I started quilting around 1981. I made quilts of all sizes and some quilted wall hangings for friends. I have a New Home machine at this time. Been married to the same wonderful generous man for 19 years now.

Beautiful collection ,Marie. I could fly over and steal that pink snowball. That is simply gorgeous. Thanks for letting us see them. The wildlife hanging would also be another 'special' for me - lovely. . In message , Marie Dodge writes

Thank you. I wish I had a pic of every quilt I ever made. One of my favs was a house-4-season quilt with each row colored to the season, then repeat. I sure wish I had kept it. Did you ever sell a quilt or give one away as a gift then regret it?

They're more or less my favs also. :o)
