RUG MUGS AND MORE

Has any one on this news group ever made what is called Rug Mugs/Mug R ugs. They are about 10 inches long by 6-8 inches wide finished. They hold a cup of coffee/tea and a cookies or two. I have been thinking of making a couple of quilted sets of 4 or 6 for a couple of friends for Christmas. I need Christmas present ideas, so any help would be appreciated very much. I have also moved to a new location within the city here in Pocatello, Idaho. What an ordeal that has been. I still have a few pictures to put up . Yesterday the maint. man put up 3 vertical blinds for me. I don't like cu rtains so was able to use the valances I had made for the previous apt. Th ey look nice. My sewing room has a dresser scarf and sewing machine cover a ll made out of same fabric as the valance. In my bedroom, I have a round t able covering along with the fabric used for my valances, with a dresser sc arf for dresser and night stand. Each room has it's own color scheme too. Sandy$ in Idaho

I've been in a couple of mug rug swaps. The size is large enough to accommodate a quilt block or two (say, a 4" or a 6" block) but small enough to be finished in a reasonable time.

I made mug rugs as favors for the Magpies biennial meetup earlier this year. Pictures in this post:

Funny thing, I've made mug rugs but I have never made quilted postcards.

P.S. If you do a Google images or Pinterest search with the term "Christmas mug rug" you will get hundreds of hits.

Hello Mary in Oregon/Bobbie sews more/Nann for your comments on sewing and mug rugs. Since my mug rugs are small think I will use small squares o r something I could applique. Haven't made my mind up yet. Sandy$ in Idaho
