Hi all, I am thinking of upgrading my machine soon and wondered if anyone was using the Sapphire 875Q from Husqvarna. How do you find it? Have you used it with the fab-u-motion? Is that as good as it sounds?

Hi Jo, I'm sure there is someone who was saying they had one of these. Wait for a while to see if you get the reply from her (there might be more than one there are a lot of Viking fans here - myself included now that they have introduced the larger harp - but I had got my Janome before they did that!). Jo, I am sure that we heard from someone not long ago who has a Sapphire and loves it - but my memory isn't good enough to remember who it was! I think, though, that the general consensus of those who have tried the fab-u-motion is that it's not such a good thing. There's a Sapphire 830 sitting right here beside me, Jo. It belongs to a neighbor who quilts with me. I don't know the differences of the 830 and

Haven't set down with the Sapphire, but have tried the Fab-u-motion. It is a hassle to use and not worth the money in my opinion. Some people seem to like it, but for me it is awkward and limiting. Try it at least time or two before investing in it.
Most Viking/Husqvarna machines are good ones. I've owned them for years. Will have to check out the Sapphire since I may have to replace my "main" machine sometime in the not too distant future. sigh.

Well folks, you will laugh at this. I bought a new Sapphire 870??? Last summer and it is still in the box. I loved it in the shop, and will love it wehen I get it open, and set it up, which will be soon.
Why did I not open it yet? First, with all of the issues with my mother, getting her moved, then her passing, I just didn't have the mental energy to get things moving. Secondly, I had several quilts which had to be finished before Christmas and again, I wanted to use the familair machine to just get them done, and I did. Third, the New 'Chine (as my little grandson calls it" requires its own properly set up space. which involves moving STUFF around. No time till now.
The set up is coming. Soon.
I am not sure oif this is the exact same model that you are thinking of. I tried several machins, including a Baby Lock, Bernina and Pfaff, and the Husqvarna was MINE!
I am sure you will love it. One of the women (a quilting teacher)in my monthly quilting group has one and loves it too.

Many thanks for your thoughts. I was getting very excited about the fab-u-motion, but maybe I need to have a few goes on it first. If only I had the space for a machine quilting frame with a stitch regulator built in for my mega-quilter. Ah well, I can dream. Thanks again. Jo P
