sashing and/or bordering almost 12 1/2" blocks

I love that! I'm going to that with all those blocks you guys sent me for my thank you quilt!

Howdy!

I've done quilt tops this way, too, Sandy. W/ the use of the differently colored strips the end product has a more traditional look, fools the eye into thinking the blocks are all the same size (the differences are less noticeable). With the RCTQ hugs blocks I used just one color for sashing, trimmed the sashed blocks to the same size & then sewed them all together; the quilt looks like the blocks are "floating" in that green sashing, another nice effect, less formal, more scrappy, which the quilt is. ;-)

Good luck, Karen. Nice to see you're feeling well enough to tackle this project.

Exactly, Jan! Much more than 1/2" might not "hide" as well, but 1/2" is only 1/4" on a side, so it's not really visible. :)

Darn, I never got Sandy's post to tell how she did this. Could someone please post for me? TIA Gen

It's such a nice feeling to come in here and not feel too totally flumoxed by sewing. And this project feels good. : )
