NAYYY.

I ordered a pattern from Lori Smith, directly from her website at

on Monday, the 9th. Now, keeping in mind that yesterday was a holiday, imagine my surprise when I went to the mailbox today and my order was there.

Not only that, but in the package along with a personal note from Lori apologizing for the "delay"??? in sending the order, she included another pattern AS A GIFT!. It happens to be one of the few of hers that I don't already have and I am absolutely thrilled.

I sent her a thank you email and now I'm telling every quilter I know about the extraordinary service Lori provides.

Can you believe it?

Ahh, the power of spreading the word about vendors. Be they good reviews or bad reviews, it can make or break a business, how they treat their customers.

Glad you had a good experience, and shared it with us.

Have a peace-filled/piece-filled day, G> NAYYY.

Yes, Jeanne and no shipping costs! ( I LOVE that)

I ordered the Floral Delight pattern and she sent me the Fit to Frame #6. I just finished the Fit to Frame #13 (well, the blocks are done anyway)..

I'd like to order Flowers from my Garden. That Floral Delight is just so big. The blocks are 15".

And for colors, well, I like her colors just fine, so I'll match shades as much as I can. I did #13 in Jo Morton colors. Now I have to figure out a sashing and border fabric. I kind of lose interest after the blocks are made.

I've got to hurry up and make a replacement baby quilt. I had an appliqué top done and took it to a friend to FM quilt for me. It usually takes her an hour to do a baby size quilt. She came down with the flu the day after I took it to her and she's been sick now for 2 weeks. I feel so sorry for her, she is so awfully sick.

The baby shower is the weekend after TGiving and I just don't think she's going to get it done. I could go get it from her and try to find someone else to quilt it, but 1) I don't know who else I can get at this busy time and 2) she is going to make herself feel horribly guilty that she isn't able to do if for me. I told her the baby isn't due until the end of December and I can just give it to her then.

I bought something called a Batting Buddy that is a quilt-as-you-go template and boy, is it slick! I'm using the scraps from all the 30's fabric that went into the appliqué top and doing a string piecing technique for the top. It looks really cool and will be a very serviceable quilt.

OK, more than you wanted to know, but I'm chatty this am.

not at all more than i wanted to know, Cindy. sorry to hear about your quilters having the flu. i do hope she is back on her feet soon. all those holidays on the horizon and things need doing. not to mention your quilt needs quilting too. tho i agree as long as you can give it when baby makes its arrival.

off to check out the designs you got and have made up so far. also want to find that batting buddy and give it my once-over. cant imagine how that works at all but does sound interesting. brb.....

i like her applique designs, well most of them. they're bold and simple. baltimore designs that are too fiddly, tho ever so beautiful, just arent my cuppa tea. i admire them but not into that fiddly stitching or the outcome. i much prefer something with a bit of oomph for lack of a better word. flowers from my garden and floral delight are both neat designs. you said you've got most of her patterns or lots of them... ...could you not mix and match some of the different applique templates and come up with some new blocks of your own design to stitch? i'm sure you could, just play around with them for a while and see what happens. now i need food or i'll end up back in bed sleeping again, had enough of that i hope.

i've seen that batting buddy before. it is rather expensive. it is a cutting template for a square of batting, is that it? uh oh, says fragile on the package, that'd do me in for sure. fragile and i dont work well together.

ta for the info, keep it coming. tis fun to read of others adventures into the realm. j.
