Happy Dance!

Finished the first quilt for 2008: a bright version of an "eye spy" quilt based on the pattern for Night and Day on my site. This one was actually fun to piece, though the stitch-in-the ditch quilting was boooring...I almost NEVER do such simple quilting, but this quilt begged me for it. I did a little extra "surprise" for this one too: with two older brothers, baby Alexander's quilt is a good chance to play Eye Spy games with brothers Nick and Ollie. So, I included cutouts of some of the novelty prints in a fabric "envelope" tucked into the label on the back. Take a look and feel free to copy this idea: Mom Karen was thrilled both with the quilt and with the extras.

Now, I'm working on a quilt for Alexander's new cousin: my daughter-in-law's sisters keep having babies! I'm not thrilled with this one, though I'm happy to be following through on my commitment to lose some UFOs...even if it means re-purposing rather than finishing the original project.

Very nice, Kim. Great idea about matching 'pieces' on the back, in the envelope. . In message , Kim Graham writes

Kim: This is a unique and clever variation of I Spy quilts. I do like the 'extras' you added. PAT, dancing in VA/USA

What a great idea for a variation on Eye Spy. Good thinking! Winnie is really cute, too, even if it's not your fav. I like using the half-square triangles to set the blocks.
