scrap using and pieced backs

As I was reading about the Heartstrings project in another thread, I followed a link to the quiltville site to view her primer on string quilting (which is wonderful, but not what I'm posting this for). Then I ended up browsing a bit, and am now looking at this page:

Quite aside from some good tips on scrap usage and storage (YMMV), what I really really love and find rather inspiring, is the small bit (scrap? heehee!) about pieced backs about two-thirds of the way down the page.

So anyway. I'm sure some (most?) of you have probably already seen this, but just in case you haven't, I highly recommend checking it out. :)

Hope y'all all have a frabjous day!

Hi Mary,

Thanks for the link to quiltville. That is one of the inspiring sites on using scraps that I have seen in a long time. Really makes me want to run to the sewing room to start on a pineapple block quilt.

The HeartStrings quilt is a grand success; enough variety to keep me focused all the way through enough blocks to make it king-sized. Yes, indeed quiltville is a nice place to visit. Pollly

Many of us have Bonnie Books -- notebooks with all of her patterns printed out. She has a Yahoo list that is "special notices" for when she has a new pattern.

Two of the quilt tops I've made from her patterns are samples on her site -- "Weedwhacker" and "Chunky Churn Dash."

I love Bonnie's site, and recommend it to everyone. I've been working through my bin of scraps while working on other projects, and cutting them into usable pieces. My bin is down to half, and I have made several scrap quilts to donate! Every time I press anything, I grab a few pieces from the bin and give them a quick press. Then when I am at my cutting area, I cut them into pieces. It goes surprisingly fast. DH was threatening to throw out my bin, but now is proud of the quilts I am finishing, using all the bits and pieces!

I love her site and have checked back on occasion to see if there is something new. I didn't realize she had a group to notify everyone of such. Thanks for posting this info!!!
