Septic Event

Three nights ago we had a "Septic Event". Enough said. The results are that the floor of one downstairs bathroom and my sewing room are ruined. Carpet will have to be ripped out and burned. Yes, I lost a bit of fabric. Baskets on the floor and a couple of undisciplined stacks on the floor were soaked -- no, it can't be washed and good as new. We're talking BAD BAD soaked. Anyhow, I'm probably not going to be sewing much in the next week or so while the toxic removal takes place. My darling wonderful husband will have to deal with it by himself (with the help of my sons) as the immuno-supressed don't play with septic remains. Who knew there was such a good side effect, LOL. Anyhow, I'm going to try to finish binding this little butterfly quilt and put the pic up. Also another mini that I finished. But it's going to take a whilie to get my gorgeous sewing room back. Right now it smells like a sewer and squishes underfoot. Ewwwwwwwwww.

Oh, Sunny, how *awful*! I'm so sorry that happened to you. We almost had a similar "event" several years ago (we're now on a sewer system, and I have my fingers crossed ), but it only backed up into the bathtub. That was bad enough! Yuck.

Poor you! And IMO you deserve extra compensation for loss of stash, above and beyond not having to clean up the disaster. Roberta in D

Sunny,

So sorry to hear of your problems It really sounds like a bunch of cr-p. LOL

This really does call for some fabric shopping. Maybe some basket shopping and some more thread too.

We are on a septic and I often think of what I would have to go thru if that happen in my basement. Uggggg.

No, I am going to think about fabric shopping. Sew much more fun!!!!

I can assure you that the shopping took place this morning. Of course, nothing can ever REALLY replace what was lost (wink, wink).... but I did the best I could. I'm going to be sewing upstairs for a while but that's ok. Roll with the punches, as long as there's plenty of pretty f abric to play with while you roll.

I would look into a number of largish plastic totes for the "stacks" that happen on the floor. In fact anything that is stored on the floor in an area where flooding is a possibility. They may help contain the "clutter" too. Or at least make it easier to bring up to a better level for "sorting"/ aka "rootle-ing"
