So, into the store Bert and I walked and the one lady from the other night greeted me very warmly, as did the two other workers, and the second lady from the other night was busy. But, the first lady remembered that I had been in buying reds for "the neatest project" and came right over to greet me. I briefly said that I had bought yards, had washed and ironed, and that three of the six were short. She just about went hysterical in horror that it had happened. She took them out of the bag and measured them all and sent everyone scurrying to get the bolts and cut new. Because of her so positive reaction, I requested that instead of her taking the washed fabric back and cutting new, that all I really wanted was a quarter yard cut of each of the three that were short. They still wanted to cut new yards and I said no and explained again the project and that I just wanted quarters, so they did, bagged up, no charge, lots of apologies, by this time the fourth clerk was involved, and out the door I went. Everyone happy.
Yes, on the width of the fabric I usually count on 40" as well. I usually don't have much shrinkage in the cut length though.
Back from town, enjoying 10 hours of daylight today before the next storm arrives. We only have 24 inches to go to set a new snowfall record.
