Singer 99K question

Phoebe gave a grating gasp and quit sewing. Can't take her in until tomorrow so I got my Singer out. Question: I do NOT remember which way you use the foot. It has the hard bump and then the 'go button' next to it. Do you put your foot across the entire pedal and use your 'big toe' to make it go--or do you put it the other way with your foot on the floor and sorta use the side of the foot?

I learnt to sew using my big toe on that sort of foot controller. I still find myself using just my big toe when I am really concentrating on my sewing!

Hope Phoebe has a successful trip to the doctor tomorrow.

Whichever works for you! I tend toi use my machines with this foot pedal in bare feet, with my whole foot on the control and my big toe on the Go button. That way I have a lot more control, especially at slower speeds.

I use both ways--if my feet are cold and I have socks on, I use the side. If it is warm and I am barefooted, I use the ball of my foot. I must have a weak big toe!

Kate, nothing is going to make us believe that you are sewing at slower speeds. Ha. A likely story. Polly

Lenore, there's probably a physical therapist who specializes in that. We could ask around. Polly

"Lenore L" I use both ways--if my feet are cold and I have socks on, I use the side.

Oh, I do! 'Slowly, slowly, catchee monkey' as I say to the kids! Sometimes it's quicker to sew slowly so there's no danger of needing to frog stitch!

Ok, sounds like I pitch the shoes (that's where I was having sooo much trouble.I couldn't 'find' the button) I'll try both ways after we get home from Phoebe's Dr appt. Here's hoping she can get fixed today.

Thanks to all of you that replied. It means I can go back to sewing when we get back..

Maybe, maybe not, I have this funny temperature control thing going on and have had since I was in my teens, my right hand freezes whilst my left hand stays normal temperature, it's a perfect built in example of warm and cold blooded animals! The different thing here though is I don't feel that my hand is cold until I touch it on another part of my skin! No one has ever been able to shed any light on it.

Haven't they told you it was Peripheral Neuropathy? Have had it for a few years now and that is exactly what both my hands and feet do. It's like your wrapped up in a warm blanket and you left your hand outside the covers when you're asleep in a 'cool room'. They do not have a clue why I have it and I can't take the 'normally prescribed meds' for it either, so I live with it.
