I realize most people learned this in preschool, but I think I was absent that day......
How do you make snowflakes (and other designs) by folding paper and cutting with scissors? If somebody could direct me to photos online or just describe the process I would be grateful.
I have tried and all I can get it an ugly, cut up square. Obviously I'm doing something wrong.

Try this link for some practice that won't have you cleaning little paper snippets off the floor. You can even save your best work to your computer so you can print them out to use as templates.

Try folding the paper in half first then fold it into a triangle - it helps if you draw the angles first by joining the corners to the centre point and folding along them - if you then adjust the corner angles so you end up with a hexagon shape. This is trial and error folding first and then cutting. you will end up with the "traditional"hexagon star shape
