stamps ???

Hi

I recently stumbled onto a stamping doo-dad that has piqued my interest. I was thinking that if there is a permanent ink that I can somehow apply to the stamp and then press this onto a piece of fabric, color it if necessary with permanent markers, that this would make a nice quilt label.

here is a link to the stamp:

What do you think? Do you know of any permanent ink that wouls be suitable?

Any other thoughts?

Fabrico stamp pads come in a variety of colors. As you can guess by the name, they are made to use with fabric, among other things. It must be heat set (ironed) to be permanent.

I just bought a book about redwork, and it shows some old quilts. As an example of what NOT to do, they show part of a quilt of US Presidents, and the name of the President is in ink rather than stitched. It is faded badly! They suggest stitching.

ink quality has changes vastly over time though, these days they have all sorts of equipment to mimic the effects of time, you might want to ask a rubber stamper if they have stamped on fabric and what the result was, you might also look for an ink pad called Stazon.
