Stencils?

In addition to the zillion and one things my DT needs me to bring her when I visit next week, she's suddenly realized that she needs quilting pattern stencils and hasn't found much on the web. What she really wants is pre-made stencils. I *know* there are stencil companies on the web, but I haven't bookmarked any of them and don't remember what their names are. Does anyone have a favorite they'd like to recommend? Thanks!

Sorry Sandy, all mine are in the UK! but I'm sure someone will know some for you. There are hundreds (stencils I mean, not shops) 'out there'! Next week is it? Wow, that's come round quickly. Did you find your missing box? . In message , Sandy Foster writes

and type in 'stencils'. Do Not look at anything else. You could get in heaps of trouble. Polly

Thanks, Pat. :) Yes, I can't believe I'll be leaving so soon now! No

-- no missing box yet. :( Oh well. It will turn up in a couple of months/years/decades, I suppose.

Thanks, Polly! And you're right -- I'll severely restrict the direction of my eyes. ;)

'm pretty sure these are the folks I purchased from at previous quilt shows. I can't be 100% sure, as the show I normally attend is not listed - though there is a note stating 'In 2006 we will be attending three new shows and cancelling our booth at one.' So, it could be they ditched Mancuso (seems to be a bit of that going around with the vendors). There are also FREE (yes free!) stencils at the Quiltmaker site.

Holy mackerel!! That's lot of stencils. Now I have a question. I was looking at the Christmas ones, and there were some snowflakes with lots of short lines on the spokes. Just how would you do those with the machine?

I assume you're talking about one like this?

I would backtrack over the lines so each line is quilted twice. Yeah, takes a little practice, but you don't need to be nearly as accurate as you think. As long as you're in the ballpark (and it's better to always be a little off than to be really off just once in a while), it will look fine.

Yes, that's the type. Thanks - I hadn't considered back stitching.
