Stripes, Plan C

I loved a striped quilt and collected for a long time so I could make one mine. When I had enough stripes, I didn't remember why I was collecting them. After pondering your kind suggestions, I figured plain old basket weave should be a good beginning. Plan A. I arranged the pieces with the lightest stripes in the middle and graduated out to the darkest. Boring. Plan B. Tried a sort of Trip around the World arrangement. Even more boring. Plan C. This time the stripes can't be called anything more than checkerboard. No two alike touching. One up, one sideways. That is all. It's magic. It's music. It's wonderful. Can't decide whether to stitch it or just love it carefully patted on the design wall. Why am I telling you this? Just to suggest that when things aren't going well - keep going. Maybe back off and come again another day. Sleep on it - many times a great idea will come to you while you're fast (?) asleep. The Quilt Police will never know if Plan A was a dud. Polly
