Summer Solstice

Hi all, I was just wondering if anyone has done the "Summer Solstice" quilt from Feb. 2004 issue of Am. Patchwork & Quilting (variation on moon over mountain). I've been thinking lately that I want to start collecting batiks, and this is such a scrumptious pattern - I can't wait to start it now! Also, it will be my first applique quilt. Just wanted to share my excitement and see if anyone else has made it!

There's a photo of it here, where it is sold as a kit (near the bottom of the page on the right hand side):

I'm sure you all love your batiks, but if anyone wants to trade pieces for some other kind of fabric, let me know, b/c I'm officially starting my collecting for this quilt. woohoo! I'll need 12 1/2 x 14 1/2 inch rectangle pieces (or as small as 9 1/2 inch square if moon-colored). Now I have a shopping theme when I go on my October road trip/shop crawl!

Oooooh, that's lovely, Lynn! Now I see why you wanted batiks! As I said before, just tell me what color you'd most like right now -- I have a certain number of colors here. And are you in the directory?

I have my fabrics saved for this one. It's one of my PIGS. I loved it the first time I saw it! I hope to make 4 blocks connected to each other in a row. No two blocks will be identical. Then it will be hung in my office at work.

Yup, I'm in the directory. Since I'm just starting to collect them, pretty much anything will work right now! Orange, yellow or white for moons, blues or purples for background, browns or greens for mountain

-- anything! Except I don't really like grey. No obligation though, Sandy. I'm hoping to get your stuff in the mail tomorrow!

Alice, it's funny you said that, because I was reading the magazine again on the subway ride home and was thinking of doing the exact same thing (wallhanging for office). I want the big quilt too, though...I always dream big.

Thanks, Lynn! I'll go through my batiks today and get something out to you tomorrow or Thursday. I'd do it sooner, but I'm stuck here at the house while the workmen put a roof over our terrace. Poor QIs can't go outside and are frantic at the idea of "strangers" being in the back yard.
