Teaching my first class

Unbelievable to me, my LQS have asked me to teach a class in postcards! I sent them a Christmas postcard and when they put it up they had so many requests for a class they asked my to teach one in March. I'm excited and a little nervous. I picked an Easter card. I hope it's easy enough to start with. I posted it on my webpage on page 2 of my postcards.

Denny, it's certainly NOT unbelievable to me! Your postcards are AMAZING- beautiful, imaginative works of art! And they keep getting better and better! The Easter card is a great idea and I hope you take lots of examples of your work so the students get truly inspired to try many different things with fabric postcards. If you have small scraps of fabrics and trims to share it would be fun to let the students experiment with those, too. One little suggestion- from hosting the postcard swap I observed that the satin stitching around the outside edges is usually the weakest area of expertise. You are very good at this. I hope you will have the time to show your students how to get a lovely edge- and that's a technique that could be quite time-consuming. It can make or break a great beginning to their postcards. Be sure all the materials you will need for the students are ordered in at the LQS. Have fun and good luck- I loved teaching quilting techniques!

Denny, Your postcards are wonderful and of course you are the right person to teach a class. You'll do great. And the people who take your class will be darned lucky to learn from you.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will take some of my scrap fabrics. I scheduled the class for 3 hours which should be more than enough to spend lots of time on different methods.

All the cards are 4" x 6". I have yet to try the ATC's (2.5" x 3.5" or something like that).

I am in a yahoo group also which trades fabric postcards. There are several swaps each month you can participate in, or not as you have time. Eyes and glasses were pick a word swaps (there is a list of words and you pick one) All groups are limited to 5 swappers or less so you don't have to make too many.

Good luck with your class. I'm sure you'll manage it without problems. And the Easter card is cute. Don't want to start this '..card' thing, but your cards are really tempting. I'd take a class too :-)
