Taught my first Temari class

On Oct.24, I taught my first Temari class at our local LNS. I did a sampler temari called Christmas Rose and Ribbons. With Ginny's (temarikai.com web page owner and TemariTalk yahoo group Moderator) help I was able to use premarked mari and developed a demo prop for illustrating the stitches. I must note that the props need more stuffing and be firmer. I will slit the back and add more stuffing.Live and learn. The good news is that I was able to show how to pop the knot into the ground threads and how to end the threads.

I had 8 in the class and a 2 hour time frame. I must say that my lesson plan would be perfect for a 3 hour slot. At least 6 of the students "got it" and were well on their way to finishing their temari. 2 were having difficulty, one I ran into one of them a couple of days later and she had decided to take hers apart and restart it. The LNS owner told me that she had gotten great feed back. Not to bad for some one that has been doing these only since last December.

Congrats. It's always the way. You could offer a follow-up class.

Sounds like NH is winning out over MT???? Must be the plethora of needlework shops as opposed to the Plains/Rocky Mountain area!
