My RAW bracelet class

Well, this afternoon I taught a RAW bracelet class over at Ben Franklin Crafts. I taught it there the other month and we used the glass bicones they had in stock. I talked to the woman who heads up the classes there and got her hooked on Swarovskis. She in turn went to the store owner. They now have a small selection of genuine Swarovski crystals. There is so much of a difference!

Anyway, I had 10 people signed up but one called in sick. Out of the nine who showed up, most left the class wearing their creations. One woman, bless her heart, struggled. At one point she wanted to quit. Her hands were shaking because she was getting herself upset. I spent some time with her alone. Although she may not be able to do it again, she did wear her bracelet home! Another woman had repeated problems with her threads tangling. I think she'll be okay at home. I told her that part of the trick is to figure out how to deal with all of that thread.

(BF has already asked me to teach a double row RAW after the holidays. I'm going to have to state a prerequisite that they have some experience with a single row. If I don't there may be people who take the class and find they have trouble understanding it.)

All in all, it was a very good day! And now this week I'm off work because I have jury duty. The good thing is I won't be at work. The bad thing is that I can't do my beading or my needlework without scissors! Looks like I'll be taking books.

A thread cutting pendant or an empty container of dental floss works great for cutting threads without scissors. Really. If you can't bring needles, those plastic dental floss threaders do quite well in a pinch, too.

Oh yeah!!! I never thought about that! Plus the little bobbins of Nymo will fit in the container I'll bet! I think I'll take a little kit of beading supplies. Worse case scenario is that they will hold it until I leave. Sounds like a do-able plan. Thanks Kathy!

It did. I was so proud of the woman who was going to quit. She made my day. :-)

(After all of that today, I came home, finished a bracelet I started this morning and made another Siam one to replace the one I sold last week. I love playing with these crystals. I'm sooooooooooo hooked!)
