Swarovski crystal bracelet story

I had something funny happen todayand thought y'all might get a chuckle out of it.

I work part-time at a regional upscale department store. The boss called me this morning and asked me to come in for a split shift. (Well, you know how it is - you try to be a good employee because you may need a day off on short notice sometime.) So I was getting ready for work and put on one of my Swarovski bracelets. It's just a right angle weave, nothing really fancy.

Anyway............I was doing my thing and taking care of customers when one woman commented on my bracelet. I told her I made it and she asked if I made them to sell. I told her I did sell one but most people don't want to pay $40 for them. (I live in a *thrifty* part of the country.) We were talking and commiserating about how tough it is to find bracelets for small wrists. She asked to try it on. Why not? She loved it and offered to buy it on the spot! Who am I to turn down cash in hand?

Now I need another Siam bracelet - after all, without it I'm down to 14 of those bracelets. And since I'm home on my "supper break" right now, I had to find another bracelet to wear this evening. Think anyone will offer to buy this one? It's the crystal vitrail medium............... ;-)

Depends on how many rows of RAW are in the bracelet. The ones I make are only one row wide and take almost no time at all.

vitrail medium is my FAVORITE finish in Swarovski crystals. Wear (and sell) that one next, and congratulations on your sale!

My favorite one is the Jet Glacier Blue AB 2x. I **LOVE** that blue fire! I have so many and yet want so many more........... I'll make another Siam for myself to fill in that blank but what next? Maybe Sun, maybe Erinite. Maybe both!

Bed time - been a looooooooooong day.

I love to look at the bright colors, but the satins are especially wonderful to use with boro and other more complex colors. Lt Montana Topaz Satin. Crysolite satin. Jonquil satin.

I haven't tried the satins yet. My impression is that they have a brushed finish look to them. Am I right? It's so hard to tell from a photo and I don't know anyone who's used them. That could be kind of cool for a bracelet.......definitely a different look.

No it's more of a slightly fibrous look. The color is very muted, but there is still lots of light. They enhance muted colors but aren't that great a color to look at. They aren't really greyed, but more like shadowed.

Every time I walk out of the house wearing something I made I dream about this happening. Nice to know it's not completely insane. :-)

Oh dear - NEVER think that anything we may have in common isn't insane. ;-) Most people would go on some serious meds if they thought we were in sync.

In a way, yes. It's just a single row of right angle weave. I use gold seed beads along the edge and a nice GF clasp. Ta dum!

If you go to Bead and Button's website, they have a double row RAW bracelet with accent crystals. All you do is to stop after the first row. I'm a relatively new beader and I have fallen in love with those bracelets. I'm headed up tomorrow to buy more of the siam crystals. If I'm lucky, she'll have some new colors as well. Might as well make two instead of one. :-)

I'm a little clueless about this stuff, but my guess would be that Siam is a color. Sounds like a typical Swarovski color name, at any rate. LOL!

I was putting together some bead sets for auction this afternoon, and used Swarovski in a few of them. I only have half a dozen colors, and I was wondering if there is a Swarovski "bead soup" you can get or anything. I really need to get more. I don't make jewelry, but I do find they are the perfect accent for many of my lampwork focals.

Sharon: I think the Siam being talked of is the siam color swarovskis.
