Bracelet Size

Sheila,

It's more than just wrist size, you need to take the size of the beads into consideration as well. A 7" bracelet made with 3mm beads will fit different than a 7" bracelet made with 14mm beads.

I use a bracelet sizer, although you can also make it yourself, I found it easier to just buy one and not have to worry about the accuracy, etc.

There's no such thing as a "normal" size for a bracelet. Average, perhaps. My MIL has a wrist that measures barely over 5". Some women have an 8 1/2" wrist. I think 5" is more rare than 8", but you never know (which is why I measure everyone's wrist first -- but then I only do custom work).

I watch the shopping channels a LOT. They sell bracelets at 7-1/2" and at 8". If possible, make it so you can re-size it. If you are selling at a show, I PROMISE YOU you will get customers asking to have the bracelet bigger or smaller (the same with necklaces). Know which ones you are willing to modify and which need to sell "as is."

Usually an inner diameter of 6/5 -7" is 'standard'.
