Last class

Sigh, my stitching class is over. :(

Those sweet girls seem to be eager stitchers. I've heard from several of their Moms that they are stitching every night now.

I charted up a chart that says "Orts" in cross stitch and backstitch. I washed up some baby food jars and gave each of them some orts from the jar. Sort a way to remember the class. The girls loved the fabric and floss and mini kits.

But I almost bawled. They got me some aida and the "25 Most Beautiful Shades of DMC" floss assortment. The principal took a "class picture" which they all signed.

I will do this again.

Not needed! The best thing is that I got to know them!

Cheryl, I've got three more weeks before my class ends and I suspect I will feel the same. Last week they really started to get it - the light bulb went on so to speak - and they were really gung ho. We started the class with tassel making, for their scissor fobs, and having that first project completed (I had sewn up their cross stitch initials into little stuffed squares with cording) seemed to give a great boost. The look on their faces is priceless. The side benefit has been that my daughters, who are a bit older and helping, have renewed interest in needlework. Yesterday they started on their bargello work projects so I would have something to show the class (thank goodness because I barely had enough time to chart the pattern, let alone stitch it up).

By the way, what was your favourite project? I'm going to an EGA class in March on teaching children and I'd like to be able to share some appropriate projects. And I'm more than happy to give credit where credit is due.

Congratulations, Margaret

I like that - can I borrow it for next year?

My favorite project was the girl that combined a little bit of running stitch to make a border that became a tassel. Inside, it said MOM or WOW depending on how you held it. The picture came out blurred :( Cheryl
