thanking for squishies in the ng

even if I am running the risk of being flamed here, I want to bring something to all you ladies' attention (and gents if any of them is reading us) that has been discussed in this forum before. I've been noticing quite a few public 'thank you for the squishy' emails lately.

I thought we had agreed not to do that because those who have not received anything might feel bad. KK, this is not about you, BTW, I understand the need to thank people in bulk if you are under a squishy shower, or those of you that do it because the sender did not provide you with a return addy and this is the only way to thank them. But in some cases I can't help but wonder how much of it is broadcasting to the rest of the members how great you must be if people feel like sending you stuff just because.

I am not saying we should forbid it, because we can't forbid anything in a ng without a moderator and for one I like it that way, but maybe if we bring it up again people will stop doing it when the option of thaking the sender privately is a viable one. What do you guys think?

I don't mind either way! If I read about somebody getting squished, it's almost as much fun as getting one myself. Getting squished vicariously! And it sure beats reading posts telling us how to save the world by clicking on a link!

That was good, Jessamy. Not yet professional, but pretty darn good. As for me, I don't give a happy hoot whether folks say thank you on here or privately. And if I sent a squishie to everyone I thought was great, I would have to wipe out Paducah for every scrap of quilt fabric they have. I think if the sender announces publicly on here that they sent a squishy to so-and-so, then it's okay to announce on here that it arrived. Since they don't usually do that, then discretion is the best policy.

We love hearing about lovely FQ's and such, but no names please. Not even "you know who you are", or "sender thanked privately".

It really is a perc to hear that you got a squishy that looks like such and such and it just made your day and you love the squishy-sending game etc. Not that you have to share about it, only if you want to. Squishies are no secret around here, they happen all the time. Someone around here is even Queen of that realm. Oh - heh, heh.

Let's have fun, be discreet, be happy, and keep the squishies flying!
