The Quartered Binding

A few of you wanted to see how the divided binding, I described in an earlier thread, looked on the finished quilt. Well I finished it just before lunchtime today, took the pictures and got them onto Flickr. The link is:

You might have to peer a bit to see the binding - the quilt is a bit large (for me!!). Clicking on the little magnifying glass helps to make the quilting (such as it is) more visible, except the corners - which is a pity as they are free-motion full-blown roses!! .

Oh, my gosh, I love this idea! That's a beautiful quilt and your free hand is wonderful...sigh....I have a long way to go to get close to that talent. You did a fine job all way around! Donna

You inspire me, Pat. There's an ombre in my future soon; looks like such fun for creating. One time I did have a black with white snowflakes that gradated (is that a word?) to white with black spots. (I think that was in my snowman period.) The vine/leaf quilting is great; I want to try that too. Would love to see the full blown rose. Polly

Ah, thanks Leslie. And, it wasn't difficult - just a bit fiddly. A few more stages than the general run of binding, but I do like the result. Seems to 'fit' with the rest of the quilt.

Thanks Roberta. Maybe this is my first instance of a quilt speaking to me - why I had the idea? I shall be so pleased if they will help in my choices in future! There are many of the fabrics used which have flowers and leaves, so it seemed appropriate to do that for the quilting. . In message , Roberta writes

Thanks Sandy. I know it is a little unorthodox, but it did seem right! I'm glad you like it notwithstanding >g< . In message , Sandy E writes
