First brights; now scrappy!!

What an elegant quilt! WOW

Oh my, Pat! That really *is* a departure from the norm for you! It's lovely, though -- I really like the way the ombre sashing calms things down as it moves from one shade to another.

Thanks Sandy. I love those ombre fabrics. I bought half a yard of several colours!! (not my usual habit at all). I think I will definitely use them again. I used some of the Hoffman ones in the recent baby quilt. The Makower ones stay within the same colour; the Hoffman ones merge from one colour to another (sometimes to a contrast almost, sometimes to something very similar. I love them all).

I've decided to make a bag for a friend. That will be the last in the run of atypical pieces for me I think. I have enjoyed the little expeditions into the unknown, though - strangely! . In message , Sandy writes

Thanks Michelle; but I don't think so. I kept being drawn to get some sort of 'pattern' to the colours - I could 'feel' the pull. I'll do some drawing to prepare four of my more usual style of quilt; do a few hospital baby quilts and then see whether all this bright and scrappy is behind me or if I feel I want to have another go. I understand the "pull" to control your colors. :-) Only I have just the opposite--once I'm finished with a more color-controlled quilt (at least as controlled as I ever get), I feel the "pull" to do something scrappy. :-p
