This stinks

I want you to see what I'm quilting. We want to know what you're quilting. There was a skunk print here that was so precious I had to just 'make' me cut into it. I've framed the blocks in gray and then black only because those were the winners on the design wall. That sounds much too serious but first you have to see the little stinkers. What are you stitching or are you still sleeping off apple pie for breakfast? Polly The sweet little kitties with bushy white stripes down the back are at

Now that's why I want to be like you when I grow up! I would have seen that fabric and said, "Ewwwww!" I never would have bought it, much less used it. But they are so sweet, and I'm picturing them frolicing across the top of a quilt - good work!

Growing up to be just like me is easy enough, Louise. You just don't set your goal very high. Age 4 is about right. No worries except maybe monsters under the bed. If you saw the legs off of your bed no monsters can get under there. Life is good. Polly

Growing up s for kids. I gave it up years ago.

Yours is the perfect solution to monsters under the bed.

The skunks are lovely.

Louise I really like your quilt with the doll. I am considering something like it, but without the doll for my bed. Thanks for the idea. Barbara in FL

You are too fun and clever! Maybe something bright between those blocks in the end? Or, maybe you'll find just the right stripe for binding :-)

I'm working on Bonnie Hunters annual mystery. I'm also ready to put the binding on my husband's birthday quilt from (ahem) last year. Pictures of that when it's finished.

Polly,

I've been sewing up a storm as well, and just finished three quilted table runners and an apron (not quilted). You can see them all here:

The first runner is a wedding gift for a friend's daughter, it's the

2nd marriage for both and they're going to live in the Virgin Islands

- so I wanted to make something tropical. The apron is a Christmas gift for a friend, and the other two table runners are for me!

I **adore** the skunk fabric - they look so real. I sure hope to see a picture of your quilt when it's finished!

i love the skunks! i'll need to order some of that fabric-my DD (age

17) wants a pet skunk. NOT with two dogs in the house!

Right now, quilting is on hold...have some simple projects in the works--my DH's dobsonian telescope is living in the dining room. he has it covered with a black plastic bag. this is REALLY UGLY to me...i'm sewing a very simple cover for it. and I've decided i really REALLY need new curtains in the bedroom. so, bought some fabric for that project. Plus a holiday tablecloth, plus using the embroidery machine to make candy cane holders for DS (age 9) class at school....

Why do they spend $$ on a well designed, good to look at piece of astronomical kit and then wrap it in a plastic bag?

You sure sound busy......

lizzy--

The hubby wrapped in the plastic bag! (yes, picture a black leaf bag...yikes!). I'm busy, and with work, kids, hubby, horse, dogs, etc....i've decided to put myself on a schedule....I WILL sew at least an hour every night. I tend to go through drought season...where i don't go near the sewing machine.

Thanks, Sandy. I've made gobs of table runners over the years as gifts, but rarely make any for *me* so it feels good to actually keep a couple :)

While doing his weekly task of trash collection throughout the house my husband came into the family room with a very sad face. He said when he checked the trash cans in my studio he found no fabric at all. This could only mean one thing---I had not sewn all week. This was true. When I have the time I do not have the patience. I think I will put away all projects that require thinking and start a string quilt on precut foundation pieces. That way I can just shove fabric through the machine with brain unattached. Someday when my brain is working again I will trim the foundations to size and have a good start on a scrap quilt.

You 'are' thinking, Susan. Quilting needs to be a solace and comfort; always and especially now. Do put away the thinking projects and do strings. Maybe not even on foundation pieces unless that's the way you like to do it. I made one where all I did was stitch two pieces together for a time. Next I cut them in two perpendicular to the seam and stitched those pieces to whatever others were on top of the stack. Some folks aren't charmed by string quilts and some find them delightful. I just enjoy seeing my favorite old friend fabrics coming by again. Know that we hold you close. Polly

Congratulations on the finish! It must feel great to have it done and the plastic bag gone.
